Draft at the source.
Solid dark brown with hints of garnet at the edges.
Earthy chocolate maltiness as a base offset with a pretty hefty dose of smoky ham or bacon. It works pretty well but a bit too smoky for my tastes.

On tap at the source...Martha's Exchange in Nashua, NH a few days ago...

Awesome deep dark body and extra-thin ephemeral maple walnut head.

Understated smokiness with elegant roasted chocolate malt - a little grassy hop presence that emerges with warmth.

I like the extra-bitter coffee, chicory and grassy hop bite...it's tight! Smoke is very understated as previously mentioned but it lends good balance to the offering. Slight dark fruit (prunes) comes 'round with warmth. Quite good.

Feel gets a little more BBQ char with warmth...hops get bigger bite as well. Roasted chocolate malt is a strong constant. This deal has some balls.

Sip it - not because of alcohol, which is virtually nonexistent for ABV, but for the bite. Excellent.

had this on cask last week. My friend shied away due to the description - smoked porter. I on the other hand said heck yah! Glad I did. I like porters in general and really haven't seen / had smoked porters before. This one is very subtly smoked and very tasty on draft.

A - Dark brown, almost black. nice rich tan head.
S - primarily classic porter roasty malt with subtle sweet cocoa and hops notes. Could be the bar scene but the smoke did not come across in the aroma.
T - Classic robust porter. Very tasty. Roasted malts, underlying hints of cocoa, hop tang, and a smidge of smoke. Went perfect with my bacon cheesburger and pub fries.
M - on the lighter side of medium bodied. Not watery, rather smooth and easy going down.
D - I ordered two. Very nice brew indeed.

This is a new offering at M's, and a medal winner to boot! Had an on-tap serving in a tumbler glass. Pours a deep, deep dark brown, with a little garnet peeking out at the edges. Topping is a creamy, 1/2" frothy, rocky tan head, which lasts well and laces nicely. Nose is replete with roasty choco notes, though not much smoke is evident here. Body checks-in a touch less than medium, yet it is still quite smooth.

Flavor is yummy; quite dry with roasty, choco malts. Yes, quite dry! Smoke? Yes, it's there, in a subtle, underlying manner, peaty-like. A smidge of floral hoppiness appears from beneath all the roastiness, in a manner of a Guinness Foreign Extra Stout. This is a very tasty offering, and you should give it a shot if in Nashua.

Zum Wohl!!
