Ultra-dark maroon, that from any distance appears black. The head is tiny and pale tan.
Nose of oatmeal, vanilla bean, and mild roast coffee.
Begins with a strong, earthen vanilla pod flavor, with a modest roastedness that grows over time. From the get-go, it is evident that this is a mild, sweetish stout. Oats give a foundation of both flavor and body, as a milk chocolate hue grows. Bourbon gathers as the sip winds down. Hops add just traces of green leaves at the close.
Medium bodied and lowly carbonated.
This is terrifically drinkable, and with a bit more roast malt assertion, it would be terrific all around.

Jet Black...Creamy light tan lace...splendid aroma of vanilla beans, toffee, and sweet chocolate...I love the nose on this beer!!! Feels right in the mouth...Creamy, and smooth..maybe just a tich thin, but outstanding none the less. The taste is wonderful as well with vanilla and toffee accents leading the way. Tastes a lot like one of my other favorites small town stouts in Wisconsin, the Slab City Milkhouse Stout. I think it is the yeast strain they use that gives it this tremendous smell and flavor. (I may research this and see if it is the same strain)..A very good stout, just slightly below the top of the line Kalamazoo, Mackesons and Watneys material..

Pours near opaque with a brown-tan head. Beautiful aroma of chocolate, coffee and slight smoke. Nice lace forms on glass. Creamy, silky, velvety. Pretty full bodied. Great taste of black coffee, vanilla, bittersweet chocolate, roasted malt and slight oats. Very nicely put together oatmeal stout. Right up there with the best of them.
