Notes/Commercial Description:
Scream pierces reality, effortlessly slicing our sky, He flies over the Brewery just as Abe circled over Wisconsin’s 8th Infantry during the Civil War. He calls us to something bigger. Scream boasts an inspired 85 IBUs that reverberate cleanly though this IIPA. New Glarus Brewery grown estate hops join other Wisconsin grown hops to dominate this brew from Kettle Boil to Dry Hopping. You hold a deceptively seductive Original Gravity of 20.9 degrees Plato following the always 100% naturally bottle conditioned fermentation. Luscious Wisconsin grown and malted barley along with English Maris Otter malt is the bold heart of this lustful sensory enchantment. Surrender is inevitable so enjoy today.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter.
9.5% ABV (roughly)

A - Clear and bright golden in color, Scream IIPA fills the snifter with a soaring off-white head that coats the glass in lace as it gently settles to the beer.

S - Packed with an incredible punch of tropical fruitiness, Scream IIPA rips into the nostrils with a hoppy bite that brings citrus and floral nuances along for the ride. Delectable Maris Otter English malts provide a smooth base with biscuity malt complexities worthy of diving into.

T - Bold hop fruitiness makes an immediate dive for the taste buds, swooping in with ripe balled melon and pinapple, bittered by a helping of grapefruit rind and lemon oil before making a shift to subtly caramelly sweet, biscuity English malts. Rich and ripe, Scream IIPA assaults the taste buds in the best way.

M - Maris Otter malts make for a beautifully smooth underlying sweetness that provides just enough balance to gently offset the abrasive hop bitterness and dryness that lingers on the tongue.

O - With subtle tweaks to their Thumbprint IIPA, New Glarus' Scream IIPA is elevated to soaring new double IPA heights with an absolutely impressive blend of citrus and tropical fruit with floral undertones that are all brought together by delicious English malts. Bright and dangerously drinkable, New Glarus has crafted another world-class beer!

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall New Glarus Signature Pilsner Glass.

Appearance: Pours a somewhat hazy golden orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Big three finger off white head with decent retention. Leaves a decent amount of lacing.

Smell: A very ripe and juicy hop forward aroma with big hints of citrus fruit and grass. Upfront presence of citrus hops with juicy hints of grapefruit, orange peel, mango, lemon, apricot, pineapple, peach, and tangerine. Earthy hop presence with hints of grass and pine resin. Solid pale malt backing with hints of grains, biscuit, cracker, caramel, and yeast. A very good hoppy aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a nicely ripe and juicy hop driven taste with good notes of citrus fruit and fresh grass. Big upfront citrus hop presence with good notes of grapefruit, mango, orange peel, pineapple, lemon, apricot, tangerine, and peach. Solid earthy and floral hop presence with notes of grass and pine resin. Good backing presence of malt with some notes of grains, cracker, biscuit, caramel, and yeast. Very juicy and nicely bitter. Very good tasting.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very juicy and fairly oily with a drying finish. Alcohol is hidden well.

Overall: A really great Imperial IPA. Great taste of fresh citrus fruit with a nice soft malt backing. Up there with some of the best big IPA's.
