Pours dark amber in color nearly brown with a slight haze and a thin half finger blubbly head that retains nicely.

Smell is great. Tons of fresh bright peach aromas along with a fair amount of notable candy like tartness. There is a very slight must overlaying a crisp aroma and some nice grainy malt.

Taste follows the nose with beautiful juicy fresh peaches forward with a nice crisp tartness that borderline sour. Some nice base beer is detectable with a great funky must along with the malt and a slight presence of barnyard. Lots of oak in the finish but the complexity added by the peaches is incredible and by far the highlight.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied highly carbonated tart crisp refreshing and highly drinkable.

A- Not as dark as I expected, more of a medium-light copper in body, with a half finger white head with fair retention and lacing.

S- Peach bomb. Wow, there is so much peach in this; I haven't had anything more peachy than this. This includes Fuzzy and Peche'n'Brett. Not as much acidity as I'd like, however. Some sweet brown malt in the back with a bit of oak and leather, but this is more or less 100% peach goodness.

F- Also a peach bomb here. I also get some of that sweet brown base malt, some oak and a bit of leathery dry funkiness. But make no mistake, this has a ton of peach.

M- Medium in body, not overcarbonated. Great stuff. Easy to drink, I'd like it to be tarter and more vinegary, but I think that'll come with time.

O- Great stuff, it's not VSB but it's definitely a beer in the tradition of New Glarus- well-done, tasty and fruit-forward beer. I suspect that there will be a better balance in 4-6 months- a bit less peach and more sourness.

500 ml bottle poured into a tulip.
7.25% ABV, II IBUs, Bottled Aug 2014

A - Despite the over-carbonation warning that accompanied the bottles, Wild Peach doesn't even show an attempt to gush upon chilled opening. It does, however, have a tall off-white head that slowly lowers to cover the slightly hazed orange-hued amber beer while leaving spotty lace on the glass.

S - Aromatically amazing, Wild Peach is pungent with a combination of freshly sliced peaches and over-the-top peach candle-like presence. Amber maltiness gives the background a slightly nutty toast quality that recalls peach preserves spread across the crusty bread. Wild yeast funk incorporates a lingering sourness that seems like it will present a bigger bite on the tongue than it smells like while notes of leather and oak-heavy potpourri finish out.

T - Juicy peach makes an impressive entrance, coating the tongue in real fruit flavor, no syrupy sugar nonsense. Complex maltiness brings dry toast, leather, and a kiss of real maple syrup into the fold while wild yeast finishes out with unique barnyard funkiness and lactic acidity.

M - Light effervescent bubbles dance across the tongue, joyously leading the way for this lighter bodied beer's wonderful, drying sourness that creates the perfect pucker on the finish!

O - Rumors circulated around the long lines leading up to procuring this rare beer on a hot Saturday at New Glarus that it was "OK"; that it wasn't bold with peach presence or as sour as their previous R&D release, Very Sour Blackberry. Simply put, those rumors are false - ok, maybe it's not quite as sour as VSB, but they're different beers. New Glarus' Wild Peach, a sour fruit beer from THE fruit beer master, Dan Carey, is rich with fresh peach aroma and flavor so pungent, it's like biting into a real peach. Underlying maltiness provides a complex and delicious base for the wild yeast's playground; funky, sour, and refreshing, this unique and flavorful beer is where it's at.

500 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Cloudy deep orange with a big white head. Lasts quite a while with a thick collar.

Smell - Oh my. Arguably better than a fresh peach. Peach aroma is intense. Sweetness along with it. Some vanilla.

Taste - Couldn't possibly live up, but it's good. Sweet peaches. Some caramel malt. Kinda yeasty. Light tartness in the back end.

Mouthfeel - High carbonation. Medium light body.

Overall - Well, it's nothing like VSB. I know that's not the fairest comparison, but aside from a great peach flavor, it isn't the most outstanding beer.
