look: 4.25 | smell: 4.75 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5

Appearance: Pours with two fingers of slight red/pink head. Thin layer retained while drinking with random sticky lacing left behind. Medium amount of active carbonation in glass while drinking. The color is ruby red and is very clear and transparent.

Smell: Juicy, sweet, sugary wonderfulness explodes out of the glass. The cherries make your mouth absolutely water with a sweetness that is so potent but kept in check from being obnoxiously sweet with true mastery. Some grassy earthy hops can be picked up on the back end.

Taste: Sugary cherries hit right away with a perfect amount of lingering sourness. Its unbelievable how potent and perfectly the cherries are about to dominate this brew. The sourness continues to linger through on the body with some light oak character. Grainy earthy hops sit on the palate after with of course continuing cherries.

Mouthfeel: Light dryness, lingering sugary rounded sweetness, and some grainy hop character.

Overall: Cannot help but love these masterpieces from New Glarus. No other brewery I've had can bring out the fruit character more potently and perfectly. Their sweetness is always kept from going too far. These are an absolute must try.

Pours clear dark ruby red in color with some very faint amber hues. Lots of carbonation bubbling up from the etching. Head is about one finger light pink and has great retention.

Smell is awesome. Lightly sweet mostly tart dark cherry dominates the nose. Some light grainy aromas near the end along with almost undetectable herbal earthy hops.

Taste is awesome also. Ripe fresh sweet dark cherries are forward followed by a very nice cherry tartness that balances the sweet to near perfection. Cherries persist throughout the entirety of the been blanketing the grainy and earthy hop flavors.

Mouthfeel is awesome light, tart, crisp, incredibly refreshing, this beer has everything great would would want from a fruit ale.

Best fruit ale I have had

750ml bottle poured into a pint glass
A: Ruby/light brown color with a one-finger head
S: Cherries for days. Ripe & fruity, a hint of malt
T: Loaded with cherries. Sweet cherries, sour cherries, bing cherries, ranier cherries, a bit sweet, a bit sour, fruity, flavorful... just wonderful
M: Fairly light-bodied but sweet/sour/fruity, balanced for the taste
O: I will admit I found this bottle after it had spent at least a year in my cellar, shame on me... it was still fantastic. Now I need to find another to try it fresh, I'm sure it will be fantastic

750ml bottle poured into a chalice.

A: Cloudy pinkish brown color. Pink tinted head settles after a short time. Lacing is spotty.

S: Intense cherry aromatics. Very fresh smelling. Hints of dark bread and brown cocoa from the malt. Touch of vanilla. Grassy and lightly herbal hops are very hard to detect. Excellent.

T: Cherry juice. Fruity tartness hits its apex on the mid-palate. Hints of bread and cocoa barely come through. Perhaps a hint of grassy hop and ghostly phenol, though this is very clean for something that I assume was brewed with a Belgian yeast. Vanilla, oak are subtle. Sweet juicy finish.

M: On the light side of medium bodied. Lightly scrubbing carbonation. Creamy. Slight astringency.

O: The cherry flavor and aroma are so vibrant and fresh it isn't even funny. Perfect balance of sweet and tart. Infinitely drinkable. Maybe the best fruit beer I've had.
