Spotted Cow is one of a kind. Only found in Wisconsin. I live in Illinois and I go up to Wisconsin every once and a while when I can so that I can get a six pack. Real light and creamy. Almost rich in its taste. A little wet on the finish. All around solid. Get it if you can. (283 characters)

Poured into a straight sided, Spotted Cow pint glass.

A - 3.25 - Pours a slightly murky gold color. Forms about a finger of bright white head. Medium head potential, nice head retention. Good solid rings of lacing left on the walls of the glass.
S - 2 - Yeasty, slightly sour and alcoholic. Smells like your typical domestic beer.
T - 3.5 - Slightly sweet and sour tang, bready.
F - 4.75 - Nice creamy mouthfeel and oily texture. Goes down extremely smooth.
O - 4.5 - For what it is, its quite good. A good session beer to pound a few down and the perfect pizza brew. (568 characters)

New Glarus Spotted Cow has a thick, foamy, white head, a somewhat hazy, golden, bubbly appearance, with some bit of lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet corn, malt, and a touch of fruit. Taste is of mild, sweet bread, malt, mellow bitterness, and a ghost of smoke. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and New Glarus Spotted Cow finishes crisp, clean, and refreshing.

This is one of my go-to beers when I'm spending time in Wisconsin. No surprises, just a consistently great tasting beer with an ABV that allows me to have a few. (162 characters)

Very good and refreshing beer. It has notes of citrus and goes down very smoothly. It has little to no aftertaste and is one of the best Wisconsin made beers and that is ranking it among some fierce competition. (211 characters)

12oz bottle (also sampled on draft at the airport) poured into shaker pint. Yellow and slightly cloudy body with a rocky white head. Retention is good and there’s some lacing. Aroma is of crackers, grainy malt, corn, a little lager-y fruit, and a hint of grassy hops.Taste is sweet malt, corn, and fruit with a little grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium-light body, creamy texture, average-plus carbonation, abrupt sweet finish. (434 characters)

A: golden, clear

S: bready, corn, almost liked a pumped up miller lite (if we're being honest)

T: grain after taste, corn, light hoppy taste not fruity

M: crisp, light

O: very much a casual afternoon, graduation party kind of beer (234 characters)

Easy drinking beer for the masses. Says cream ale but comes across like a Lager, Seems to me more malt forward. Has a little bit of sweetness that coats your mouth. Fairly bland other than that (193 characters)

A very drinkable beer. I was surprised by the overall lightness. But despite the lightness, there was still plenty of flavor - a bit of hops and a bit of malt. (161 characters)

12 Fl Oz Bottle
Bottled on November 10th, 2014
Reviewed on January 12th, 2015
Served in a Nonic Pint Glass

Eyes
Hazy and pale straw-colored body. A modest head formed and left a small amount of soapy lacing.

Nose
Barley, grains, and corn dominated the nose. Refreshing notes of apple and lemon canceled out the initially heavy malts.

Mouth
Grains hit first… think corn and sweet grains. Light herbal hops gained steam throughout the session. Minor hints of lemon made this a refreshing brew. Medium/Light body. Moderate carbonation.

Overall
After throwing a few of these back it is easy to see why this brew is a staple in summer sessionables. (650 characters)

Got this as an extra in a trade - other than some excellent New Glarus' fruit beers - this is my first impression otherwise.

Can't say it does much for me - Genesee Cream Ale for me is the standard for cream ale - New Glarus' version is pretty much the same. Other than maybe a little head retention and possibly a slightly fuller taste than the Geney - there's nothing wrong with this beer - nothing amazing either. Just a good representation of a nice coiffing summer beer that I happen to be drinking on New Year's Day. (525 characters)

Bottle poured into chalice

Clear golden orange, no carbonation , one finger white cap, no lacings

Grassy aroma, hint of orange citrus, hint of spice

Sip of malt, grassiness, wisp of spice. Slight sweetness

No sudsing, smooth, pleasant

Nice beer for a hog summer day after cutting the grass (295 characters)

Bought in Milwaukee, brought home to CT. Cask conditioned ale, poured from a bottle. Had a slightly cloudy golden color, nice creamy head with good lacing. Sweet aroma. Mild taste, subtle flavors with a bit of malt sweetness. Overall, a nice cream ale with a low abv, perfect for a lunch when you need to keep working in the afternoon! (337 characters)

S- Hints of spicy hops, sweet malts, hints of fruits.

O- A very easy drinking beer and enjoyable, would be great for summer. Nothing overly special but still well made. (336 characters)

A: Crystal clear straw yellow, plenty of loose carbonation. Fine white head that actually has decent retention, although only as a veneer.

S: Faint. Light grain, lemon, even mango, although that may be wishful smelling.

T: Same as the nose. Luckily there was no detectable corn flavor that was mentioned on the bottle. There are no flaws, but nothing compelling either.

M: Light, lively body. Easy gulper.

O: Easy drinking, a good beer to drink and not think about. Right up there with Hamm's (I mean that as a compliment), but without any of the flaws. (557 characters)

From label, "Cask conditioned ale has been the popular choice among brews since long before prohibition. We continue this pioneer spirit with our Wisconsin farmhouse ale. Brewed with flaked barley and the finest Wisconsin malts. We even give a nod to our farmers with a little hint of corn. Naturally cloudy we allow the yeast to remain in the bottle to enhance fullness of flavors, which cannot be duplicated otherwise. Expect this ale to be fun, fruity and satisfying. You know you're in Wisconsin when you see the Spotted Cow. "

This beer tasted no different than a standard AAL in my opinion. Did not smell or taste any fruitiness, creaminess, or corn for that matter. (675 characters)

This is my favorite cream ale. Centered carbonation. Smooth from start to finish, light fizz. Absolutely enjoyable. A front porch/football tailgate beer (152 characters)

Overall 82/100

Very light and bland, not much stands out. It's really easy to drink and refreshing on a warm night. Can only draw small cream notes, honestly if I didn't know it was, I likely could not tell. I do pull orange notes. Taste more like a wheat. Very light and somewhat forgettable~ (441 characters)

Appearance: pours a darker shade of yellow to a light orange. two plus fingers of a white foamy head with strong retention and leaving behind a big lacing. completely hazy and opaque.

Smell: corn sugar, wheat, slightly creamy. a little grassy. a very light and delicate sweetness.

Taste: opens up with corn sugar and a little bit of wheat. some grassy flavors, but not to the point of mustiness. a subtle fruitiness comes in form time to time and gives off a bit of sweetness.

Mouthfeel: light, sweet, some juiciness. very refreshing.

Overall: this is the perfect cream ale as far as I know. does a really well job of taking all the good flavors of everything and combining them into a nice light and flavorful beer. I can see why this beer is so popular among non-craft beer enthusiasts too. (797 characters)

It is too much like a lager for my tastes, but I did enjoy the creaminess. I picked up the malt with very little hop balance, though the malt was not overpowering by any means. Meh. (182 characters)

Beer pours brilliant and yellow with a white head. Carbonation level is good. Flavor profile is very clean, almost like a lager more than a farmhouse. Hops are subdued as are the grains. Everything in harmony. Beer is very refreshing, this is more of what I would imagine a farmhouse to have been like back in the day. More refreshing than funky. (346 characters)

Look: pours with a nice head and beautiful color; some variation on cloudiness but that is part of its charm. Smells like home. Taste: great mailtiness and slightly sweet without being cloying . absolutely love this beer and will grab it as a go to. (249 characters)

12oz bottle poured into a Samual smith glass

A) light yellow, clean . Initial frothy head that quickly dissipates.

S) slight fruit and a slight sour smell

T) crisp, slightly fruity . Yeasty with lots of pleasing malt overtones. Like a good piece of sourdough bread. Except lighter and crisper

M) creamy wonderful feel. Moderate carbs. Really nice.

O) solid satisfying beer. If you want a crisp but complex beer on a summers day but are not into Gose or something like that, this is the way to go.
