Received in a trade with mnjeff...thank you for the great New Glarus goodness.
Poured into a Duvel glass at 48 degrees this beer is a very dark almost opaque brown. The small bubble head fills the top of the glass much like a Duvel beer would and then recedes to lacing around the edges of the glass - somewhat disappointing.
The aroma is wheat, wheat, and more great wheat. I'm also getting some chocolate malt, light toffee, and some creamy coffee aromas.
The taste is unrestrained and unfiltered wheat and there's plenty of it. The character is this burst of flavor is rambunctous and unreserved in just about every way. I'm getting coffee, a slight twang of sourness, no bittering hops, light sweetness but this beer finishes very dry.
The mouthfeel is dry, highly carbonated, and light in the mouth.
Drinkability is high because of the low abv, high carbonation, and wheat beers in general go down smooth.
Great beer and I think you'll find it pleasing if you can find it.

brown, very clear, and with ample carbonation producing a nice two inch white foamy head. This quickly faded leaving behind nothing more then a thin film on top and a decent side glass lace presence. Very nice overall look though and there was definitely an unfiltered presence as the sediment was just well, settling down to the bottom. Aroma was full of wheat as one would expect from it. Lots of earthy and grain like tones that were mixed in with and accented very nicely by a bit of a yeasty presence. The aroma was slightly musty with a touch of a bready like quality, much thicker then I thought it would be.
Very nice here. A very rich full bodies flavor would be the best way to describe it. Normally I find wheat beers to always have the same overall flavor profile, however this one was a step up, and maybe due to the dark wheat. The flavor just seemed to come off as a bit more complex with a lot of earthy and grain like flavors. There was defiantly a lot of yeast and wheat mixed in and I even picked up the presence of some dark fruit like flavors. Overall very pleasing and a very nice palate about it. A nice smokey kind of flavor started to settle in towards the end of the session and almost gave it kind of a smoked presence in the finish
