Its nice to have the chance to revisit this brew. First tried years ago, early in my foray into craft beer. It was a little too challenging for me at that point. Last night, however, it was divine...
It poured quite opaque and black, even darker than the Road Slush stout. NIce one finger pale tan coloured head displayed good retention. Nice sheets of lacings formed only to slide back into the collar.
Quite malty and grainy. Rye barely apparent, hiding with its mild pepperiness behind the hints of clove and cinnamon from the yeast. The wheat with its nuttiness ande oats with a mild creamy sweetness were more apparent, as well as the roasted malts with their aroma of milk chocolate. Just the faintest floral hint of Noble hops present.
Taste is pretty much as already written for the aroma. Banana, spice and chocolate are most evident, over the ever present nuttiness of whole wheat. Spice is made up of a hint of peppery rye, and some clove and cinnamon.
Almost medium bodied, yes quite smooth and slightly velvety thanks to the oats. A wonderful marriage with great balance between the wheat, barley, oats and rye.
An amazing wheat beer from the premier wheat beer brewery in North America if not the world. A must try for fans of weiss beers. This beer does an excellent job of showcasing the brewing ability of Dan Carey.

brown, very clear, and with ample carbonation producing a nice two inch white foamy head. This quickly faded leaving behind nothing more then a thin film on top and a decent side glass lace presence. Very nice overall look though and there was definitely an unfiltered presence as the sediment was just well, settling down to the bottom. Aroma was full of wheat as one would expect from it. Lots of earthy and grain like tones that were mixed in with and accented very nicely by a bit of a yeasty presence. The aroma was slightly musty with a touch of a bready like quality, much thicker then I thought it would be.
Very nice here. A very rich full bodies flavor would be the best way to describe it. Normally I find wheat beers to always have the same overall flavor profile, however this one was a step up, and maybe due to the dark wheat. The flavor just seemed to come off as a bit more complex with a lot of earthy and grain like flavors. There was defiantly a lot of yeast and wheat mixed in and I even picked up the presence of some dark fruit like flavors. Overall very pleasing and a very nice palate about it. A nice smokey kind of flavor started to settle in towards the end of the session and almost gave it kind of a smoked presence in the finish
