Poured from a 12oz bottle into a snifter
A: Pours a completely opaque black color with a tint of brown. A mocha-tan head quickly fades to a thick ring of foam.
S: Very much a roasted aroma, but not much depth to it. Coffee is present but faint.
T: Similar roasted flavors that I picked up in the aroma but with a little more to them. Coffee builds to a definite bitter presence in the mid-palate, and lingers through to the finish. Slight sweet notes reminiscent of a milk stout, maybe a touch of vanilla and brown sugar, but otherwise a bitter beer.
M: A little bit thin and watery for my taste. Low overall carbonation but it is sharp on the tongue, enhancing the bitter coffee flavor.
O: A decent but in no way extraordinary beer.
