Working in St. Croix WI has its perks. Picked up this sixer tonight after work for around $9
Poures out pitch black, no light showing through. The head billowed quite a bit, almost annoyingly because I couldnt put all the bottle in there. Bit it left a fantastic lace show. Whipped light fluffy head leaving half an inch of dark brown topping and thick lace dallops along the glass walls.
Aroma is super chocolaty with rich oaty aroma and woody cocoa nibs. As Alstrom stated it does smell of cake batter too, because I cant think of another way to describe it.
Tasting almost as it smells but with malted milk balls, a bit more chocolate and something resembling lactose.
This is very smooth and delicate, with mild carbonation balancing the feel.
Finishing bitter, with roasted grains and mild earthy hops.
This is a terrific beer. So glad I picked it up.
