Part of my secret bunny 2010 haul from ROBORB. A 12 ounce bottle poured into my nonic Imperial pint glass. The stout appears a translucent ruby brown color with a good inch of creamy light tan foam. Nose and flavors consist of medium roasted grains, bitter chocolate, earthy, grassy hops, coffee, and mocha, with some sweet caramel and milk chocolate in the aroma as it warms up. The stout is at least medium bodied and smooth with adequate carbonation and a bitter roasty finish. Overall, a very nice take on an oatmeal stout. This one has been on my wants for a few years and I'm glad I finally got to try it. Thanks again Rob!

This pours a dark brown color with a slight head. The aroma is sweet and malty. The taste is nice and complex with molasses, toasted oats, and hints of coffee. This is a smooth, well-balanced stout that really delivers. The after taste is a little bitter with a lingering oat flavor.

Received as an extra with a trade from LegitCraftBeer so thank you very much for this nice beer.
A very nice looking beer. Pours a very dark brown. Nice 2 inch head that quickly died down leaving behind heavy lacing. Looks like how I want my beer to look.
Smell was nice had a nice roasted scent to it with a hint of chocolate.
Good taste with the chocolate up front and the roasted oatmeal seemed to linger on my tongue for quite sometime.
I liked this beer I had Velvet Merkin last week and I prefer the Road Slush.

Charcoal black with an inch thick teddy bear brown head that quickly sinks to an eighth of an inch. Excellent lacing persists for some time thereafter.

Aroma is of huge chocolate malts and lots of roastiness, smoke, and char.

Taste is sweet and creamy with dry roasted coffee and chocolate. A bit on the light side of the flavor scale.

Mouthfeel…too light, way too light. This stout is more carbonated, light, and bubbly than creamy, smooth, and hearty like I would like it.

Drinkability is great, partially because of the lacking mouthfeel. A sixer of this goes down way easy.

Overall, I'm really pleased with this offering from NG. This is the best stout they've done so far and it's really close to being great.

I'm always more than happy to try a new brew from New Glarus and glad to see an oatmeal stout in the mix. Pours from the 12oz bottle into my tulip glass a dense charcoal black with a sturdy half inch of creamy tan foam on top along with spotty lacing. Lookin good! Aromas of smooth, dark roasted malts with a nice shaved chocolate. Toasted oatmeal is there along with some coffee tones.

First sip brings a velvety smooth dark malt that has a nice deep roasted, mildly burnt character to it. Melted chocolate shavings and a touch of coffee work into the flavor. There's a nice sweetness here that never becomes too much. Flows down bringing only a slight bitterness and a lingering roasted, toasty chocolate oatmeal afterthought. Tasty stuff.

Mouthfeel is smooth and somewhat creamy with a tight, fast moving carbonation that rushes across the mouth with each sip. Not overly heavy, this oatmeal stout goes down with ease and I could see myself enjoying a few bottles of this in one sitting. Overall, a tasty stout from New Glarus that's worth giving a try.

12oz brown bottle with no freshness date.

LOOK: Nearly pitch black, sticky three fingers of head

SMELL: Fudge syrup, creamed coffee, soft charcoal, chocolate cake batter

TASTE: Damn smooth, fluffy body, mellow roasted grain, oat sweetness, dark roast coffee, mild unsweetened chocolate, burnt raisins, semi-dry finish

Such flavorful big beer, perhaps not massive but this is a meal in a bottle. A real treat to run into as it grows on be with each sip.

Road Slush Stout
A: Pours a brown/black with little to no head. No lacing.
S: Nuts, oatmeal, chocolate.
T: Lots of carbonation up from goes into a nice chocolaty stout. Milder flavors but a nice body to it.
M: Lots of chocolate up in here.
O: Meh, more of a traditional stout that would be session able but by itself its not all that much of a tasting experience.

I really don't think you could expect more from appearance of this, it's black as can be with a nice tan head that leaves an excellant lacing around the glass. Smell is mostly chocolate with only a hint of a coffee smell, I was expecting a little more roasted smell to it, but I just can't give it less than a four. More coffee and chocolate flavors in the taste as I would expect, the taste is good but I think it could stand to have more power to it. Slick, creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied, I'm liking the amount of carbonation on this. I really wanted this to be thicker than it is. Pretty good stout, no problem taking a few down. Overall I think if a couple areas were slightly improved this could be an unbelievably good stout.

12oz. bottle courtesy of AKSmokedPorter.

Black in color with a fizzy (fizzy?) head. Wafer-thin layer of brown lace fades quickly. Aromas are no-bake choco cookies, brown sugar n cinnamon oatmeal, some coffee beans. Flavor is dry, with a fizzy aftertaste that put me off. Chocolate sweetness up front, with some roasted coffee showing up. Dark chocolate and a roasted malt finish. Thin mouthfeel. Uber-fizzy. Not nearly as thick as desired. Decently drinkable, but I've had far better examples of the style.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall New Glarus Signature Pilsner Glass.

Appearance: Pours a dark blackish brown with a hint of ruby. Moderate amount of bubbles and a solid one finger of beige head which settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A toasty and roasty malt forward aroma with hints of chocolate, oatmeal, and caramel. Dark roasted barley malt with hints of chocolate, oatmeal, caramel, and toast along with some hints of coffee, nuts, biscuit, cream, and yeast. Sweet hints of brown sugar. Subtle hints of earthy hops. A very solid toasty smell.

Taste: Like it smells, a nicely toasty and roasty dark malt driven taste with good notes of chocolate, oatmeal, and caramel. Upfront roasted malt with notes of dark chocolate, oatmeal, toast, and caramel as well as some coffee, biscuit, nuts, and yeast. Sweet notes of cream, milk, and brown sugar. Backing notes of earthy hops. A very good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very creamy and smooth with a fairly drying finish.

Overall: A very good version of an Oatmeal Stout. Good dark malt and oat flavors with a nice creamy body.

A lighter shade of black with ample 1.5" of head on it, beige in color, kinda looser flimsier bubbles than most stouts. Aroma, a little fruity for a stout, this seemed different, but nice. Of course there was adequate roasting, but it came with that minor fruity bitterness.

Taste, solid, good roast, yet allowing the oatmeal to give it a smoothness. Easy to drink, ibu's were pretty high given its an oatmeal stout. Dry chocolate malt presence. Even though there was that fruity undercurrent in the nose, its also largely muted in the taste, but still existant enough to be tasted.

What appeared to be a simple run of the mill stout actually has some neat nuances running through it, I recommend you take a little extra time when drinking this one, letting it warm a little, it will continue to grow on you. Another solid New Glarus effort.

This beer pours an inky black color, with a thick brown head. The head fades slowly, leaving few laces.

This beer has a malty sweet aroma. It smells of dark chocolates. I also smell the burnt malts. A slight coffee aroma is present. Molasses is also noticable.

This beer tastes strongly of coffee. It has a sweet malty, dark chocolate flavor. It has a very slight smokey flavor, but only if you look for it. I think this beer tastes great.

This beer is a little thin for a stout. It goes down smooth, leaving a coffee like aftertaste. It is carbonated well for the style.

I think this beer would make a great session beer. It tastes great, and the alcohol content is not too high. I think that if I could get this beer more often, it might be one of my regulars.

Thank you thomashardy for this nice surprise. I owe you one.
