I got this from BeerFMAndy as part of a Wisconsin monster box he sent to me in a trade. Thanks Andy!
A: Pours a VERY transparent dark brown color. I know that seems like an oxymoron, but that is honestly the best way to describe this brew. I mean, I can literally see through this thing, despite it being a stout. The head is slight and the carbonation is moderate.
S: Sour cherries, cherries, CHERRIES. Did I mention this smells like sour cherries? I honestly can't smell anything other than that. However, these aren't your average cherries... I can tell already that this is high quality stuff!
T: Hmmmm.... so this is a stout huh? True "stout" lovers will be very disappointed with this one, but if you open your mind and try and understand what NG had in mind for this brew, and the fact that they are really trying to capitalizing on their reputation as one of the best fruit beer craftsmen in the business, you might understand the true genius of this beer. It tastes like high quality black cherries, with a hint of cocoa (or cacoa), and a generous amount of vanilla.
M: The pucker factor is high on this one because of its sourness, but dammit, I love it! The carbonation is moderate, but is adequate for the style, and the ABV is undetectable.
D: What a treat! I wish 4-packs were available in my area. I would get this stuff all the time. It's a welcome diversion from all the IPAs and stouts that people tend to go crazy about.
