Appearance: Lovely hazy yellow. Froth galore, excellent lacing as well.
Smell: Deliciously wheaty, with mild spicing.
Taste: Yeasty. Complex, yet balanced. Less banana flavor here than some hefeweizens. Less spicy as well, but a solid flavor profile.
Mouthfeel: Rich and creamy, even for the style. Goes down smooth.
Drinkability: Oh so drinkable and refreshing. They've got to be kidding with the 7.2% ABV.
Notes: This is definitely my favorite American hefeweizen, and probably my favorite hefe overall. It borrows the best elements of the various great German hefes and combines them in a subtle and effective manner. Itcomes out as the ideal traditional Bavarian hefeweizen, and it's American-made! Awesome! I'm sad to see I'm down to my last couple bottles until next season.
