12oz. bottle into special DFH glass on 9/26/11. Thanks to brewslut for grabbing one of these for me on a recent trip to WI.
A - Vigorous pour revealed a hazy golden wheat-colored liquid with a mammoth four-finger crown of rocky foam that eventually diminished to a thin veil of retention and decorated the sides of the glass with a splash of lace.
S - Bold spicy nose with plenty of clove and coriander, as well as a hint of cinnamon. Juicy citrus fruit mingles with a bready, wheaty malt base, creating a really inviting aroma.
T - Everything you could want in a Hefe is here: the clove spiciness, ripe banana, tangy citrus fruit and fresh baked wheat bread. Finishes spicy but with a hint of grassy hop bitterness.
M - Medium bodied with a chewy texture and moderate carbonation. Finishes spicy with mild bitterness on the palate.
D - This is a spot-on German-style Hefe and one of the best examples of an American-brewed Hefe I've ever had. I typically need to be in the mood to drink a Hefe, but if this beer was available in PA, I'd likely keep a case on-hand during the summer months. Dancing Man is a delicious, thirst-quenching beer that is an authentic nod to its German predecessors.
