Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into my Harpoon UFO hefe glass. Appears a cloudy pale straw color with two solid fingers of fluffy, lingering, bone white head. A great looking pour. Nose and flavor are of spicy ,peppery yeast, sweet bananas, some citrus, mainly lemons, lightly toasted wheat, some clove. Delicious stuff. Falls somewhere between medium and full bodied with ample carbonation. Quite drinkable, as my glass was empty in no time.

Appearance: Hazy gold, huge head.

Smell: Bananas with a touch of clove.

Taste: Cloves come first in the taste, some spiciness. Sweet bananas in the middle and a little citrus at the end.

Drinkability: A little strong to have more than a couple but tasty.

Another great wheat beer from New Glarus. Looks great, tastes great, reasonably priced. Just about everything you could want except wide distribution.

12oz bottle poured into a weiss glass. thanks to demcorhip for this one.

Gorgeous beer. Three inches of head off a gentle pour and a glowing yellow-orange colour. Big chunks of swirling yeast, extremely hazey. Very entertaining to look at and beautiful. Amped up weiss aromas, the typical banana and clove, coriander, oranges wheat, bready and husky and grassy. It just like a delicious dessert. Mellow with just a touch of zippiness....

Flavour is wonderfully mellow with lots of wheaty goodness. Fruity sweetness, banana, pears, apples balanced out very well with the lemon sourness and tartness that's typical of the style. Peppery and zippy on the tongue, Full flavoured as all get out. Carbonation is refreshing and the mouthfeel is never too thick. Alcohol is hidden so well, it's so bloody drinkable. New Glarus is making the best wheat beers in the states right now in my mind, classically flavoured but never compromising. Brilliant stuff!

Poured from Bottle into Pint glass.

Pours a cloudy yellow orange with a pillowing 3 inch egg-white head that slowly dissolves into a nice layer atop the glass. Aroma is strong banana and clove with some touches of lemon. The flavor is spicy with banana and clove and some mild hop flavor that comes across as spicy also has some alcohol warmth. Its a medium bodied beer that is crispy but somehow has a certain creaminess to it. Lots of banana and clove deliciousness in this one and I'm loving it. Overall, this is a delicious high octane hefeweizen that you should probably be drinking right now.

Hazy copper with loads of carbonation erupting from below. The head is massive, holding nicely. Smell is a classic blend of yeast and clovey spice, with a subtle wheat malt sweetness.

In the flavor you notice right away this is a notch above a typical Hefe in terms of alcohol/strength. The mouthfeel doesn't have quite as much foamy fluffiness either. The flavor is nice but not amazing. Nice dry wheat maltiness with a touch of banana, but not enough complex spice to bring it to the top. The alcohol is not overly present, but noticible enough, and I don't think that is welcome for this type of beer.

Overall a solid choice for a Hefe. I liked everything except for that slight added astringence at the end. Recommended...

Poured a nice hazy gold color. I rolled it on the counter before opening to get the sediment in the pour. I like sediment

Nose is bananas and spice, some malt.

Mouthfeel is creamy, nice carbonation. Good weight, rich but not too heavy.

Taste is Bavarian Weizen on steroids! Big banana, balanced by some floral hops and subtle but apparent clove/coriander notes. Absolutely delicious from the first cold sip to the 50 degree sip. While not necessarily a pounder, it's very, very easy drinking.

Delightful!

Acquired via trade from brdc, so a big “Thank you” goes out to him. Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a weizen glass.

A: The beer is a cloudy light amber color with a thin but dense white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of wheat, banana, lemon and spice along with light malts and a little bit of hops.

T: The taste starts out very bready with a strong wheat flavor dominating as you would expect from the style. There’s not a lot of sweetness but there are flavors of banana, lemon and some spices. The hops presence is mild as it should be. The after-taste is bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, light-to-medium body, medium-to-heavy carbonation, clean finish.

D: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, good representation of style, nice strong kick for the style, this is a very good beer to stick with for an evening. I could definitely drink quite a few of these.

Appears a really hazy light copper color, with a good bit of bubbles rising up. Bright white head tops things off, about two fingers width. Very good retention, with pretty good lacing for the style.

Lots to pick up in the smell, anything from banana to bubble gum, apricot, hints of clove, cinnamon, cardamom, and black pepper. Light bready malts interweave nicely.

Taste is more of the same, a good deal of apricot, peach and banana fruityness. A good deal more clove on the palate than the nose, and some residual strawberry on the swallow which may point to a little bit of flavor contribution from the alcohol.

I like the feel, less spritzy than I would have imagined, nice and soft, almost creamy at first, then feels a little more lively and has quite a nice medium body. Finishes fairly dry.

Drinks relatively well for its strength. I didn't actually realize it was over 7% until I started reviewing it on here and noticed the strength. It's quite a contemplative beer for the style, which is a good thing, but it's not something I would consider thirst quenching. Overall I really enjoyed this, thanks for sending it out this way Kegatron.

Thanks to dug for throwing this in as an extra in our recent trade. Everything I have by New Glarus is great and this is no exception. Pours hazy gold with an inch of white head. Smells and tastes of banana peel, cloves, and really really strong bubblegum. The most bubblegum I've ever found in a beer. Body is great - light to medium with lots of refreshing carbonation. A highly drinkable brew.

Pours a hazy straw with no head.

Smell is great hefeweizen aroma with a light wheat and sweet banana, bubblegum and clove.

Taste is like the nose. Great German Hefeweizen flavor with more banana and bubble gum with the right amount of sweetness.

Mouthfeel is a fine tingle of carbonation and nice body.

Overall a great German style wheat beer. No surprise from NG!

This pours a pale, yellow color, it's slightly hazy, but quite a bit clearer than many hefes I've had. The head is quite explosive, billowing to a mighty froth with even the most delicate of pours. The aggressive carbonation is evident by a cascade of tiny bubbles that feed the everlasting head.

The aroma is quite heavy in fruity esters, predominated by banana, but I think the cloves take the front seat in this category. A very subtle citrus aroma is also detected mid-way through.

The flavor also consists of these yeasty esters, and once again I feel that the clove makes it's presence known, but it has a great cushion of banana and other fruity flavors to really keep it in check. Sweet, refreshing, fruity and hop-free.

The beer feels bubbly and sweet on the tongue. A great, refreshing mouthfeel. An awesome beer to consume throughout the summer, I can think of nothing better than to be sitting around a campfire on a hot summer's eve sipping on some Dancing Man Wheat Beer (except maybe to be sipping some Crack'd Wheat).

Thanks to KingG for giving me have a bottle of this one.

Pours a golden color with about a finger of foam which quickly falls to a thin layer. The aroma is of wheat malt and fruits like apple, pear, banana, orange and a little lemon and spice. Taste is similar to the aroma, quite good. Mouthfeel and carbonation are right on with what a good wheat beer should have, clean and refreshing. Great beer for a hot day.

Fluffy/Fizzy two finger light head tops a cloudy orange amber beer. Head vanishes quite quickly. No lacing to speak of. Some nice sparkling carbonation rising to the top.

Very Light aroma that actually fades quickly. Light grains, slight citrus, slight spice.

Spice and yeast tones are more pronounced in the flavor vs. the aroma. White pepper here vs. the assertive black pepper of the Crack'd version. Light banana flavor combined with a nice bread tones. A touch more hop assertiveness at the end vs. what I expected. Nice. Lemon/citrus

Delicate and very light body. Sparking and bright.

Very drinkable and quite refreshing. Clearly a great summer session option.

Another nice beer by New Glarus.

Poured into weizen glass:

Pours hazed golden yellow with a big head that leaves trailing lace.

The smell is of banana/clove with a hint of sour lemons and spicy cinnamon.

The taste is of sweetened bananas, lemon tang with light clove and cinnamon to give it a spicy balance in the finish.

It is creamy smooth and refreshing.

Enough banana/clove to let you know this is a Hefe! A great example of the style!

Poured down the center of a Left Hand balloon glass from a 12oz bottle. I know it should be a weizen glass but I don't have one on hand at the moment.

Appearance: A slightly hazy golden body with a huge three finger highly-carbonated head. The head slowly recedes and leaves a halo of foam. A moderate amount of lacing.

Smell: An aroma of creamed sweetcorn dominates with hints of wheat, banana, bubblegum, citrus, and spice.

Taste: A taste that matches the flavor; creamed sweetcorn and wheat give way to a burst of mouthwatering banana, orange, and citrus. Plenty of spice and pepper on the finish. Delicious.

Mouth: Medium body with quite a fair amount of carbonation. A slight prickliness from the carbonation compliments the pepper and spice finish.

The aroma, the variety of flavors, the mouthfeel... I love this beer. New Glarus hit a homerun with this one.

Thanks to Heliosphann for the free hookup once again!

Cloudy, turbid brass with blonde highlights when backlit and a creamy ivory head that leaves pretty lace on the glass. Wow, the nose is pure banana and clove with a touch of maple syrup. This is the best Hefe aroma ever from an American version of the style I've encountered. Juicy banana, lemon and circus peanut candy with a nice dash of "Belgian" spice flavors. Medium light heft with a bright, scrubbing carbonation. Dancing Man is a hell of an American Hefe.

12oz bottle obtained via trade with kmpitz2. Thanks for the opportunity...

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 2 3/4" beige head above the cloudy golden amber brew. Ample frothy lace, and aroma is the expected sweet wheat coupled with clove and banana. Taste follows the nose, just what you expect from the style. Mouthfeel is smooth, and drinkability is easy. Wouldn't mind revisiting this one.

received in trade from woosterbill....thanks c'ptain

A - I'm not partial to the style, but this is a beauty. Nice fluffy white head, plenty of bubbles shooting up. light lacing attempts to cling to the glass.

S - Huge nose, especially for the style. Big wheat smells, backed up by some fruits. Fruits come through more and more as I smell it. Let's see if the taste matches up.

T - It's not quite as impressive as the head, lighter fruit notes. Mostly this tastes similar to other wheats I've sampled. Maybe more so of a lot of tastes. This score is probably tempered, because I've never loved the style.

M - Perfect for the style.

D - Good. I'd def. recommend to fans of wheat beers, and may even be persuaded to seek it out again if I ever make it out to WI.

Definitely one of the best bottled hefe's I've had (perhaps the higher alcohol keeps better?). If I make it back to Wisconsin, I'll have to look for this on tap.

A: Hazy bronze-straw with a white head. Not much retention or lacing for a wheat.

S: Big banana aroma, with cloves, cinnamon, nice breadyness & hints of bubble gum fruity esters.

T: Banana, candied pineapple, well-rounded spicing, vanilla, warming alcohol, modest bitterness, pleasant breadyness, bubble-gum fruity esters in the finish.

M: Moderate body is smooth.

D: At 7.2%, it's just not as sessionable as some.

Stevens Point, Wisconsin

Appearance - Hazy orange with a 2 inch head that fades soon to about 1/8 inch and then holds on for a few more minutes. A good looking pour with the sound of carbonation as its captured by the pint glass. There is a nice white place along the glass.

Smell - A deep malty scent with a citrus overtone. The aroma is inviting and sweet.

Taste - The rich wheat flavor really shines through with a hint of clove. The label also reads there is some cinnamon but apparently my palette isn't refined enough to pick it up. Regardless this is once again a good tasting brew from New Glarus.

Mouthfeel - Smooth and well rounded in my mouth this beer goes down like a lovely dream.

~ I can certainly enjoy one or two of these Dancing Men while hanging with friends but that's about it.

"Slow and easy goes, the Dancing Man as he taps his toes.
A lovely brew, that in the heart rings true.

Thanks Seeswo for bringing a bottle of this down for me.

Pours a hazy yellow orange. Very pretty. A bunch of white head. Smells wheaty with lots of banana on the nose. A really solid yeasty presence on the nose as well. The taste profile is a bit banana-centric as well but that's the joy of the hefe. Great wheat and yeast on the tongue. I like Live Oak better but this is certainly a solid brew. Thick and heavy but well carbonated. Overall very good drinker

12 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass

A- very creamy foam head that rises above the rim of the glass nearly 2 fingers. Color is a hazy straw color that looks very inviting.

S- nose gives off scent of several spices, primarily cloves with a little pepper mixed in. You get a little of the banana & citrus after the spice. Very nice.

T- bananas and citrus are stronger here, the spices take a back seat. It has a very nice balance between a slight sweetness and the spiciness. It's on the sweeter side of the hefes I've tried.

M- very nicely carbonated, actually tastes quite refreshing. Nowhere in this brew have I noticed the 7+% abv, so this feels very drinkable. Feel is somewhat creamy like the head was, but there is enough carbonation there to make it excellent.

O- I have to figure out more ways to get this... hmmm.... move to Wisconsin? I'd consider it. This brew was greater than the sum of it's parts, the taste is right up there, the spiciness, banana flavor, and refreshing taste make this a standout, in the style or on it's own.

Appearance: Pours a dark, cloudy orange with a thick three finger head which quickly turns to a thin layer that sticks around through the whole glass.

Smell: Better than average Hefe smell. Good bannannas, bit of pineapple, and some spicy clove aromas.

Taste: Again, better than most Hefe's I've tried. Big taste of sweet bannanas to start, which gives way to a nice wheat and spicy clove taste that finishes the sip. Fruity and spicy aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: For the third time, above average for the style. Good foamy thickness that coats the mouth just the right way. Not too thick but just right.

Drinkability: Very good beer, but as with most very good beers, I would only have maybe two in an evening. Definitely a recommended beer, and more so for fans of the Hefe style. Good job New Glarus.

Goblet.

A: Pours a light golden, perfect clarity, with three fingers of fizzy white head. Very good retention.

S: Sizeable dose of pepper and spice on the front of the nose, malt, and just a touch of citrus.

T: Lemony and orange and the requisite spicyness. It's got a little corn sweetness that somehow reminds me of Spotted Cow (?).

M: Nice crispness to balance kind of a creamy mouthfeel, medium-light body and medium carbonation.

O: Superb wheat beer. Very quaffable, one of my least favorite wine descriptors, and refreshing for unusually hot days like these.

I drank this from the bottle into a chalice.

The beer pours a medium gold with a hint of honey with a a finger head high that fades quickly. The lacing is light but small drops do cling to the glass for a while.

The aroma is light and just everything that you would expect to get from a hefe.

The taste is nice, but light. Its lots of wheatness with a little sweetness to it, that separates and differentiates from most hefes. Its got a nice mouthfeel that is heavy and lasting and its a very drinkable beer.
