So floral, so delicious. Hazy, golden, beautiful... this is a phenomenal hefe. This is the perfect summer brew. New Glarus just doesn't seem to miss. I only wish I lived closer to their beautiful brewery! The smell becomes ever more floral as the beer warms. Absolutely world class... easily on par with its German equivalents.

A - Slightly hazy golden beer with a fluffy, but fleeting foam crop of head. Very nice looking beer, that is just ever so slightly hazy. Quite lively carbonation long after the head has dispersed itself into a coaster.

S - Great hefeweizen smell. Bubblegum and Banana come through with a slight astringent note in the background. This one begs you to take a hearty swig...

T - WOW. This is what a Hefe is supposed to taste like! Although present, the bananas and bubblegum aren't as up front in the taste as they are the nose, but the slight cinnamon note mixed with the Clove presence in the finish really make this beer shine. Impeccable balance of yeast, clove, and classic banana notes on the finish. No mustiness to be found. Simply put, this is just a clean, crisp, and fantastic wheat beer.

M - A bit more thin than other Hefeweizens out there, but it does not adversely affect the experience.

D - Incredibly drinkable, especially for the ABV. So drinkable in fact, that I have purchased every 6 pack of this stuff that I have come across left over from this years run. Undoubtedly one of my favorite beers, and another World Class offering from Dan and Deb @ New Glarus!

Pours a MASSIVE, dense, white head that collapses to a perfect, soft, whipped, two-finger head. A wonderful bouquet of bananas and clove in the nose. Perfect, hazy, straw-gold color. Starts with notes of clove, banana, sweet malt, and floral hops. Builds in banana sweetness after the hops peak at a very low bitterness. The finish melts the hops floral characteristics perfectly off bready malt and sweet banana, with a lingering touch of clove.

Perfect.
How is this not my go-to Hefeweizen?
Beats most of the Germans at their own game!

I never thought I would say this: An American wheat that is as good as or beats the Germans!!

This one pours a nice clear dark yellow and some nice wheat head. I am not sure I should discount it for no cloudiness. The nose is quite good: fresh, spicy, tart, banana

Taste; oh what a taste. Very nice tart apple and spice. Some hops and malt character. It is not one specific facet of this drink but the overall result that is so good. The mouth feel is also nice with good body and plenty of carbonation. Alcohol is so well hidden it is dangerous. This beer rivals if not surpasses other wheat I like.

12 oz bottle

A- A somewhat cloudy golden color with a half inch pael head
S- A spicy wheat aroma
T- A fairly strong yet smooth spice flavor of clove and a little cinammon
M- decent carbonation
D- Very smooth drinking beer without the usual sickening spice/burnt wheat flavor that I get from other hefeweizens

A solid, glowing golden orange in color, 2cm fluffy white head that was there until after the last drop and left but a few whisps of lacing. Lots of active carbonation. This beer is packed with aroma, you don't even have to put your nose to it to start smelling it. Fruity esters jump out at you right away, bananas, cloves, lemon zest, bubble gum. The bottle also suggests some cinnamon notes which was there too upon deeper reflection along with a bit of pepper. Rich wheaty malt with some bready yeast. Outstanding.

Many parts of the aroma were very distinct and vibrant, and the same goes for the taste. Plenty of banana and clove typically associated with hefes, wheaty and lemony zest. Some yeasty bready notes. A lot of lively esters in this beer, tangy mouthfeel with nectarines and peaches also showing up on the fruity bill for this beer.

Overall: I have never been to Bavaria, but damn, I want to try a hefe better than this. I am really not sure that is possible. I had heard a buzz about this beer before I tried it, so I had pretty high expectations for my first one and I was blown away. Wow, I think the word vibrant is probably the best term to describe the flavors in this one. And WTF is with the 7.2%? I had no clue until the next day when I went to review it.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass

A - Hazy golden orange hue

S - Banana, bubblegum, lemon, banana, and spices. Other light fruits and malt come through.

T - Damn... one hell of a hefeweizen! The notes of the aroma come through in the taste along with pear and orange peel. A very complex and drinkable beer. You can't detect the 7%+ at all!

M - Light and crisp mouthfeel. Kind of surprising for how big this beer really is. Perfect!

O - I could drink these all day! This holds a candle to Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier! New Glarus nails down every style with ease. Impressive!
