A - Just what you want in a hefeweizen. Cloudy, light orange body with some wheat in it. Head is larger and pretty white - just slight orange.

S - A little bit of artificial pez like sugar aroma. Some wheat in it. Simple.

T - Great flavor. Orange, clove, and some cinnamon. Also simple and it fits the smell. Sweet.

M - Strong carbonation which holds up a lighter body. A little buttery on the tongue. Refreshing and nice.

O - This is not a crazy beer, but a real nice hefeweizen. Simple and sweet. Amazing how it is all the way up at 7.2%.

A: Cloudy light orange color with 3-4 finger frothy head.

S: Clove, banana, peppery, lemon.

T: Banana, wheat, clove with lots of spice (maybe too spicy for a Hefe?) Lemon, Orange, pepper.

M: Medium thickness, good amount of carbonation.

O: Excellent. I actually prefer this one over Live Oak. I have never had a bad beer from New Glarus yet. Another excellent brew! World class.

Thanks go out to my beerboyfriend Mike on this one. I've been a little bit upset that despite all the creativity we've got in the beer brewing US of A, I still hadn't tasted a hefeweizen that could match up with that pesky German one that's been around for hundreds of years: Weinstephaner.

New Glarus Dancing Man Wheat can. Toe-to-toe. Or at least toe-to-toe-ish.

The appearance is downright lovely. Orange with a fluffy white head in my snifter and touches of lacing all over the glass. The head provides a thick smell to match the medium body of the beer itself. Feint notch of alcohol, but mostly citrus peel, cloves, and spices. It almost trends towards a Belgian saison, but there's no funk and less pepper. The taste is as smooth as it is complex. It begins with a bit of hops, and some pepper on the front of the tongue, continues with some citrus zesty pops, and finishes yeasty and unfiltered. Not totally clean or crisp, but certainly sweet and lively. The cloves and cinnamon on the label present themselves throughout, although the cinnamon isn't prominent.

This isn't a pound as you dance to the music beer. This is a 7.2% alcohol by volume sip on the porch beer so you can have your mid-afternoon buzz while doing yardwork. Just as filling as a big hefeweizen should be, it might even benefit from being a little smaller in a few senses of the word. But that said, I'm darn impressed. I've got 3 more of these, and they are going to be savored. Every last drop.

A's. And high-fives all around.

Yet another beer my man GDBEERMAN hooked up in our trade! Thanks Rob!

Poured from brown 12oz bottle to NBB globe as I have no weizen glasses.

A - The bee pours a hazy gold color with a huge 2.5 bubbly white head. Excellent retention and lacing.

S - Hefeweizen! Lots of nice aroma: the nice hefeweizen yeast character in your nose immediately: clove, banana, fruit. Light malt character in the sweetness.

T - Very fruity and sweet immediately. Nice hints of banana, apples, citrus meld well with the toasted malt sweetness. A hint of honey. The yeast flavor isn't as pronounced as I expected which is nice. Mild bitterness. Finishes fruity and crisp. Very good.

M - Good carbonation and medium bodied.

O - While Hefeweizens aren't my favorite this is an excellent beer! Top Hefeweizen I've had so it's a nice treat. Not too overpowering on the flavors and very well balanced. Extremely refreshing! Thanks Rob!

Note: This review was a re-post from my former account, jmkratt, which was hacked and I lost all my reviews...sorry for the redundancy.
