Notes/Commercial Description:
Do not waste time attempting to box this brew into some esoteric guide to styles. This is Dan's bold creation. His passion for unfiltered Weiss collides with Cascade Hops inventing our Imperial Hefe-Weizen. Dry hopping boldly rules over Wisconsin red wheat and our special strain of Bavarian yeast. At almost 20 O.P. this is the super mac daddy of Weiss beers. Decoction mashing was followed by excessive dry hopping to create a fierce onslaught of clove, cinnamon and citrus all in this living beer. Don't bother waiting to enjoy - the time is now.

A beautiful brew, big billowy off white head with excellent retention, a bit of a departure from their regular brews. Hazy, of course, with a golden tone with orange hues. Thick, sticky sheets of lace stay put in defiance of gravity as the head slowly dissipates and as I enjoy this unique beer. I cannot imagine a beer looking better than this!

Very interesting aroma. Hefeweizen meets west coast hops to create an interesting mix. Bubblegum with a hint of clove and citrus hops combine to give a fuzzy grape like aroma.

The wheat is quite noticeable in the flavour of this brew, but the notes of bubblegum and earthy spices such as clove and cinnamon try to assert themselves only to succumb to an incredibly clean citrus burst of ruby red and white grapefruit. As i continue to drink my palate finally manages to pick up slightly on the hint of banana, and I start to "get it", instead of trying to compare this to something familiar. This is a bold, assertive, and tasty beer that still manages to demonstrate finesse.

An interesting medium bodied brew that showcases wheat and hops. Some of the nuances of hefeweizens are lost due to the assault from the west coast. Hints of bananna are present but arent easy to find under the assertive hops. Some alcohol warmth is present.

This is one interesting and unique brew. The more i drink the more i get used to and appreciate the blend of tradition and creativity that resulted in this tasty beer. Cant decide between a hefe or an IPA? No problem, drink this one, and then see how hard it is to stop at only one. The very clean and tasty hop flavours are downright amazing and make me wish for a simple IIPA from New Glarus. Its nice to see a brewer go out and make creative, tasty, and unique brews in their one off releases. If only more brewers would take note. Try this one and soon for the full hop effect. Highly recommended, and not only for the creativity of Dan Carey, but also for his tasty creation.

12 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a beer flute

A - It is golden bodied with about a foot of off-white head that clings to the sides for dear life.

S - I smell bread, spices, and a little citrus, orange.

T - The taste has some clove, lemon, orange, and a bitter finish. I get alcohol as it warms and bread.

M - Foamy. This beer is all head. Once it settles it is medium bodied.

O - It is a hoppy version of a great style. It reminds me of Schneider Hopfenweisse.

12-oz bottle (2013) served to chalice. Drank 6-10-14. Compared this head-to-head with Vitus.

Hazy orange, darker in color than the Vitus, like orange juice with a splash of lemonade. Got an impressive 1.5-finger head, leaving some lovely irregular lacing.

Aroma's less complex than the Vitus. Aside from spice, and very faint banana, there's little here. It's not unpleasant, just muted, relatively speaking.

Yeasty spice, with wheat. Very creamy mouthfeel, more enjoyable in that regard than Vitus. Almost dangerously drinkable.
