Huge thanks go out to natasharai for lugging this and many other fine brews all the way to Alaska.

Pours like a good berliner should, nearly totally clear with a soft white hue and light yellow highlights. A nice fizzy white head actually retains pretty well for the style and leaves ok lacing.

Nose has the requisite lactic tartness, light peach, green apple, and a small wheat yeast note.

Wow. Pretty darn close to dead on for the style. A nice wheat beer base is evident. The lactic tartness is a tiny bit strong for the style, but you won't hear any complaints from me in that regard. Some slight grape in there as well, white grape. Nice crisp finish without being too dry, and the nice tartness lingers a bit in the finish.

Mouthfeel is damn fine, ever so slightly too viscous for the style, IMO, but not bad at all. Carbonation is ideal.

Drinkability is where this one shines, as any good berliner weiss should. Would love to have a regular supply of these to session on a summer day.

Overall, a very good representation of the style, and one i would love to have again. Easily one of the best american made (or anywhere made for that batter) berliners out there. Excellent.

Thanks to Cyclone8 for sending this one! Reviewed from notes. Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Peg's snifter glass.

A: Mildly hazy gold color, with a one-finger white head and lots of visible carbonation.

S: Light lactic tartness, lemony, and a bit of grainy wheat and mild funk.

T: Lactic tartness, lemony citric, wheat with only very mild husk character. Lemon rind tartness in the hang with mild fruity sweetness.

M: Light bubbly body, no alcohol presence to speak of. Very easy to drink.

O: A nice berliner for sure. Not overly sour at all, but still tart enough, with just a bit of funk, to suffice. I don't know that it's spectacular enough to really hunt down, but if this were available on the shelves around me it would be nearly a constant fixture in the refrigerator.

12oz bottle poured into teku glass.

A: Pours clear straw yellow with large white head.

S: Pretty faint overall. Tartness, grass and grain.

T: Also pretty mild. Tastes good, mainly it's sour apple. There is slight yeasty, graininess as well. Wish it packed a bit more punch.

M: Light body, moderate carbonation. Refreshing.

O: A very easy drinker. Wish it had a bit more intensity, but overall a positive drinking experience.

Appearance: pale straw yellow color. about a finger of a white head that fades slowly and leaves a sticky lacing on the sides. just a slight haze to it but still able to see through.

Smell: lacto bacteria. faint green apple skins. some wheat. fairly dull and not as fruity as I'd like

Taste: opens up with lacto tartness that opens up into a juicy green apple bite. backend is full of wheat.

Mouthfeel: light, refreshing with a tart twang at the end. I think the carbonation is a little low too

Overall: I think this beer has mellowed just a bit since its been bottled. the smell is a little on the weak end and the taste isn't quite as tart and fruity as i'd like. Glad I got to try it and I wish i got to it sooner but still a good berliner.

Poured into a New Belgium goblet. Bottleneck says 1093 so it's a little over a year old.

A- Pours a slightly hazy medium golden color with a 1/2 inch white head that retains very well before slowly fading to a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a large center patch of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a thick ring behind.

S- Smells like your classic Berliner with a semi-tart wheat aroma that makes the tongue salivate.

T- Mildly tart flavor brings notes of peach, melon and apple but all very low-key. Wheat is also mild and the tartness makes the palate crave more sips.

M- Slightly dry with a restrained tartness. Medium carbonation and a light body.

O- A nice refreshing Berliner with subtle flavors and a well-controlled tartness. The only thing that might make it better is a bit more carbonation. Would be interested in trying a fresher bottle.
