12oz bottle poured into a New Glarus pilsner glass.
The beer pours a hazy lemon color, hues of gold and straw with many bubbles rising to the top of the glass initially. A soft, fizzy, soda like head appears quickly, white in color, that recedes immediately and leaves no lace behind. The aroma is of lemon, green apple, hay, lactic sourness and funk with some pale grain apparent as well. The flavors are right in line with the style, lots of lemon zest, green apple, pale grain, lightly lactic sourness, touch of funk and some nice mineral qualities. The body is spot on, very lively, ample carbonation that is both prickly yet smooth. The finish is crisp and lightly creamy.
Verdict: A delightful Berliner Weiss from New Glarus. Insanely refreshing and light yet remarkably satisfying. This is definitely the perfect summer beer and one of the best American made takes on the style.
