Another huge thanks to Carolyn and Deuane for the chance to try this one. Note to traders, New Glarus is always welcomed.
Poured into a mini snifter, pours a very hazy light grapefruit orange. There is some pink in the belly of the glass. Small one finger white foamy head on pour. The head dissipates rather quickly.
The amarillo hops come out beautifully in the scent. So does the wheat. An amazing fruit complex comes out beautifully. Lots of sweet candied banana and lemon. As my friend put it, "it smells like a stick of laffy taffy." The lemon is perfect, and also contains a slight sour twinge to it. Well executed thus far!
The lemon and banana intertwine so well in this beer. They come off almost tart in the flavor, though still carrying the sweetness found in the smell. The name 'Crack'd Wheat' is exactly how I would describe this beer. The wheat tastes like something that could be picked freshly on a farm. The dry hops tack on at the beginning and end, adding a nice component to this beer. The mouthfeel is good but, a little bit over carbonated for my taste buds. This is an incredibly easy drink. If I lived in Wisconsin, this would be a staple in my fridge, with no less then a 6 pack on hand during the summer at all times.
