Another nice looking hybrid hefe from NG. A reddish gold tinted amber brew that pours nice and hazy, with a good swirl or two to get the yeast out of the bottle and into my glass. A big whipped and almost rocky head with excellent retention smothers the top of the brew. Sticky globs of lace already evident as the head slowly subsides. This is a great looking brew.
Huge nose on this brew. Banana and more clove meets a bitter dose of amarillo with its aroma of white grapefruit. Some lemon zest also present, and this all makes the doughy wheat and malt smell much more interesting.
Taste is much like the nose, but it is surprising how the clean flavour of wheat lies underneath this tasty brew. Much like the flavour experienced as a child eating a handfull of HRSW straight from the combine.
This is a very smooth and creamy brew. Nice phenols from the hefe yeast, and a very interesting complimentary flavour of white grapefruit from the amarillo. The finish is dry yet slightly watery. Go figure.
The finish really adds to the drinkablility of this brew. It keeps inviting the drinker back for more. An interesting spring seasonal, this wold be a killer summer brew. A must try for fans of hefe's from NG, as well as anyone looking to try something that is pretty unique. Think ill be buying more before this one disappears.
