Very nice reddish-amber colored liquid. Minimal head, which is expected with the high abv content, of eggshell colored foam. Dissipation is fairly quick. Lacing is in thin strands and quite sticky.
A big malt-driven nose, full of caramel and toffee notes. Big presence of sweet cherry notes, along with hints of other dark fruits. Light touches of brown sugars. Nice hints of dark wheat.
This is nowhere near as sweet as anticipated. It has a sweetness to it, to be sure, but the caramel and toffee notes are tempered by a nice hops profile. Hints of dark fruit sweetness are balanced by a citrus hop bite. Mild earthiness. The alcohol comes off as somewhat scotch-like. Nicely warming, but not overpowering, in the least. Malty, yet completely under control.
Medium bodied and with a touch of oiliness to it. Very mild level of carbonation. This one is extremely smooth. It practically drinks like water. Thickened water, but still water.
At 13.50%abv, this one is much more drinkable than I would have guessed it to be. The alcohol is very well hidden and the flavor is light and mild.
This one is a very interesting experiment.

Nice lacing and they nailed the color. Dark fruits, caramel, booze, candy sugar, oxidation on the nose. Taste follows the nose plums raisins alcohol complementary oxidation to an aged barley wine. Medium carbonation and works with the style. I love aged barlywine's and this is a good one but the heat from the alcohol keeps this from getting a very good rating. Would drink again if I had another one.
