Notes/Commercial Description:
You hold a session beer with a bright bold blend of five hops that flirt obligingly with the smooth malty backside. Don't let this one lay around it is brewed to be enjoyed today. Bold and engaging without pretense, because in Wisconsin you do not have to be extreme to be real.

A: Slightly hazy, yellow, a shade up from a BMC. OK head, nice lace chunks.

S: Citrusy hops dominate.

T: Sweet malts, followed by grapefruity hops. Great balance, nothing dominates here.

M: Crisp. Damned refreshing.

D: High. I'm not a hophead, and this is at about the extent of my comfort level. Nice...

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. My third beer from the New Glarus mixed variety twelve pack, gifted to me from my mom on a recent excursion to Wisconsin.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a nice bright golden orange colored body with just over a finger of creamy sudsy white head. Leaves some nice thick scattered lacing on the glass. Looks very nice.

S - The smell is bright, floral, fresh, and appealing. Creamy, piney, grapefruit, oranges, and the perfect balance of bready honeyed malt.

T - The taste follows the nose - bright, juicy, and fresh tasting. Pine, oranges, grapefruit. Once again, perfectly balanced with the bready honeyed malt. A delicious American pale ale.

M - The feel is smooth, crisp, and clean. Lightly hoppy & bitter on the finish. Medium-light bodied with excellent carbonation. A deliciously easy drinker.

Overall, a classic example of the style; I would surely get this all the time if it was available to me in Illinois. This rivals some of the bigger and badder fresh Pipeworks DIPA's I've had in terms of ingredients / hoppiness and freshness. Extremely crisp, balanced, and delicious for an American pale ale. Highly recommended.

A: Pours a deep gold. The only thing holding back its appearance rating is it's a little light in color for the style and there wasn't much head and the little that was there dissipated rather quickly. Great lacing, though!

S: This one packs a very fruitful, floral aroma. Some citrus notes - grapefruit, I believe. Very bold.

T: Balance is the name of the game with this brew. Very sweet malt profile which counteracts the hops. Not the hoppiest pale ale out there by any stretch of the imagination. You get the sweetness up front which gets finished off with an acute burst of hops on the way down. Not too sweet, not too bitter. BALANCED.

M: Very smooth beer. Leaves a hint of dryness on the back half, but overall very crisp and nicely carbonated.

O: Overall, I was incredibly surprised by this brew. Moon Man is complete unassuming and a phenomenal representation of the style. APAs are my favorite, and this one is at the top of my list. Just a phenomenal beer. A nice malty presence that works nicely with the hops providing perhaps one of the best balanced beers I've ever had. If I lived in Wisconsin I'd be drinking this every day.
