Clear golden in color with a white head. Nose has an unmistakable citrusy grapefruit and piney aroma, along with a touch of sweet malt. Mouthfeel is medium in body with a soft carbonation. Taste focuses on the hoppiness of the pale ale. Fresh grapefruit emerges along with a piney bitterness. It's refreshing and bright. Soft malty breadiness follows, but a lingering bitterness from the hoppy forefront carries through into the finish.
When I first had this beer, it reminded me a more of an IPA, in terms of the hoppy flavor. But overtime Moon Man Pale Ale has really grown on me. Sometimes pale ales can be kind of hoppy, but bland and uninteresting overall. That's not the case at all here. Moon Man is a really flavorful and solid example of the style. Plus, at 5.0% abv, this makes for a great session beer.
