You hold a session beer with a bright bold blend of five hops that flirt obligingly with the smooth malty backside. Don't let this one lay around it is brewed to be enjoyed today. Bold and engaging without pretense, because in Wisconsin you do not have to be extreme to be real.

12oz bottle into a snifter. The brew appears a pale golden yellow color with a sudsy white cap a finger strong that fades leaving soapy spots of lace on the glass.

The aroma is bright and juicy with citrus zest, grass and herbs. A bit mineral filled with almost a rind/pith of oranges and hops blending into alcohol.

The flavor is fruity and rindy with a big grapefruit aspect. Hoppy enough to be flavorful but not really bitter. Somewhat herbal and grassy with faint biscuit grain backing.

This is a light bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. Very clean, crisp and easy drinking. If it wasnt for the mineral notes across the nose, I would rate this higher. But as far as everyday easy drinking pales go, I would probably have this as a standby if it was available in my area.

Moon Man, No Coast Pale Ale
New Glarus Brewing Company, Wisconsin
---from bottle to pint glass---

Appearance
Light and golden (reminds me of my Keystone light days…don’t judge me). Beautiful floating sediment. Head starts off incredibly thick, but shrinks to a quarter inch ivory head, beautiful lacing.

Smell
Im getting loads of grapefruit and a touch of pear. My Brazilian wife says it smells like Jambos… I don’t know what that is, but she seems certain.

Taste
Wife says it tastes like Jambos (look em up). Lots of citrus hops. Malted grain beg for your attention, but you might not notice it at first sip.

Mouth-feel
Light with good carbonation. Grain flavor lingers in mouth. Perfect amount of bitter.

Overall
I may have just found my favorite American Pale Ale. I couldn’t stop smelling this beer at first. Very drinkable, I could see myself drinking 6 of these without notice; witch could be attributed to the light ABV. Cannot get this in Minnesota – bummer.

Poured into a Dogfish Head pint glass. Pours a light golden amber with a one finger white head with good retention and lacing. Nice aroma of tropical fruit, citrus and light biscuit malt. Great mellow flavor of light sweet biscuit malt, lemon citrus, light tropical fruit with a mild hop finish. Medium bodied. This beer is deceptively subtle, with all the flavors somewhat subdued, but the balance and taste are quite excellent. One of the quieter, but most enjoyable pale ales I've had.

Happy to be in WI and pick up a sixer from this great brewery.

A - Gold hue with a nice head.

S - Wheat, floral hops, lemon and a touch of grass. Really nice.

T - Nice clean caramel malt profile forms a fine stage for the primary flavors to hit the palette. Grapefruit, lemon tartness and a touch of grain.

M - Mild body with moderate carbonation.

O - This is a fantastic APA that is damn near the best in its category. For those who prefer the style without heavy bitterness, this beer does not disappoint.
