12oz bottle poured into Pilsner glass

A- pours a clear deep golden color with a one-finger creamy thick white head that retains long after the pour, leaving some lacing behind

S- spicy herbal hop aroma with some floral notes, toasted cracker malt

T- Pilsner malt gives some sweet bready notes up front, spicy floral hops balance it out with some herbal & earthy notes as well that continue to the finish

M- medium body and carbonation leads to a thick and creamy mouthfeel from the retaining head, that continues into a crisp finish

O- super drinkable associated German pils

This beer shines like a buffed penny with a rich copper color. The aroma is classic lager, witha slight hint of toffee. This is definitely a clean, well done lager.

look: 4.25 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Appearance: Pours clear golden verging on amber, with a billowy head that delivers the lace

Smell: Rich bready aromatics - smells like a bread bakery; a touch of grass and lemon

Taste: The malt is the star of the show, here, with a rich, freshly baked bread character; the hops bring a lemon and grassy aspect, but the malt flavors are so robust that they dominate the finish; I also pick up a smear of honey on the bread

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: I am having trouble thinking of this as a pilsener and I note that New Glarus makes no such claims; I would go with a moderately hopped Vienna Lager

Thanks, knapers03, for the opportunity

New Glarus Two Women Lager has a thick, white head of foam, a mostly clear, amber-gold appearance, a good amount of white, suspended sediment, and not too much lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of honey, barley malt, and bread crust, and the flavor is of the same, with some background corn and mild hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and New Glarus Two Women finishes crisp and easy drinking.

12 oz. bottle poured into a New Glarus nonic pint glass. 315 4 Julian date code. Consumed on February 18, 2015 and reviewed three days later on February 21.

L: Pale to medium amber in color, strikingly clear, one-finger white head recedes slowly.

S: Grainy aroma, corn husk, bready malts, pleasant noble hops, toasted grain, honey sweetness. Reminds me of fresh baked bread. The malts really shine in the nose.

T: Very smooth with the malts up front and center. Hay, grass, herbal notes from the noble hops, very clean with a dry finish.

F: Medium carbonation, medium-light body, extremely quaffable.

O: All-around just an excellent lager. Somewhat reminiscent of the amber “Landbiers” that one can find in remote outposts in Bavaria and Franconia. Exceptional when consumed fresh.

This is an edit on my previous rating/review. Pours a nice honey amber color and has a subtle herbal hop scent. Light bodied and smooth. Classic lager flavor with a hoppy finish. Infinitely drinkable.

Exceptional lager..a very well balanced brew..I had this on tap and in the bottle..the tap seems to give this one more life if that makes sense..I am not very good at writing reviews but I have sampled enough beers to know a great one when I taste it and as far as lagers go this is one of my favorites

12 oz bottle from Todd, poured into snifter.
A: pours a fantastic brilliant white dense foam head, great clear pure gold body, stringy lacing
S: pilsner malt, some light floral notes
M: light crisp feel, some light resin sticks to the tongue
T: fresh grain, pilsner malt, dried hay, and hint of lemon near the end.
O: great offering from new Glarus, must try, little heavier than other German pilsners I would say

Hmm . . . It's surprisingly flavorful and layered for a pilsner. I'm actually a little disappointed since I was wanting a simpler brew to serve as a palate cleanser during a cellar-aged tasting.

I'll skip the real review, but need to mention there's an amazingly striking lemon juice element that fronts this flavor profile.

New Glarus Brewing Company
Two Women Lager
German Pilsener
ABV: 5%
12 Fl Oz Bottle
Bottled on November 11th, 2014
Reviewed on January 27th, 2015
Served in a Pilsener Flute

Eyes
Pretty clean golden body. A bubbly white head formed and quickly collapsed, leaving a a fair amount of soapy lacing throughout. Visible carbonation with small bubbles racing to the top of the body.

Nose
Very bread-heavy nose. Plenty of grains. Smelled like a freshly baked loaf of bread. Subtle notes of herbal hops as well.

Mouth
Grainy malts led the charge on the tastebuds. Notes of bread and grain up front with hops finishing this one out. The hops were very subtle, grassy, herbal… overall earthy and light. Light bodied and incredibly smooth.

Overall
Be the instant hit of backyard BBQs by bringing a case of this lager!

12oz bottle, date stamp of 2404 14:35. Served in a pilsner glass.

Appearance: Clear dark amber. Thin persistent off white head. Plenty of persistent lacing - sheets, strands and islands. Darker than I expected for the style.

Smell: Clean, bready, herbal.

Taste: Crisp, but not overly so. Malt show up right away with bready/cracker tastes. The malt shows the most in this lager, but it is balanced with a good noble hop finish.

Mouthfeel: Prickly carbonation, but not fizzy. Definitely thicker than water, but not by much. Quite smooth though.

Overall / Drinkability: A very tasty lager and one that I could easily drink another of. I wish I had a six pack of this as the beer is very drinkable, but I got this one bottle as a gift so it will be awhile before I can locate another. Overall, a well crafted pilsner/lager, but not as hoppy as I would have expected for a German Pilsner - the malt is the theme for this beer and it shows nicely. This beer went very well with food (Chicken schnitzel, green beans) and I think it would go very well with a wider range of food as well. A great overall lager.

12 oz bottle shared by MrBarleywine, thanks for the opportunity!
Slightly hazy medium golden color with a decent head. Aromas of rich sweet bready pilsner malt with hints of light fruit and extremely faint floral hops. Sweet bready maltiness without much to provide balance. Fruity flavor seems out of place in a clean lager. Easy enough to drink but needs some tweaking.

Solid Lager. No technical flaws. It would be nice if the beer had some more hops. The malt profile is enjoyable and the yeast created a nice mellow smooth beer. Reminds me quite a bit of mama's little yellow pils.

Has a light floral, grain and light malt nose with a hint of biscuit.
Pours brilliant dark amber under a 1" snow white foam cap.
Light biscuit, spicy grain and a hint of floral on the palate. Starts slightly sweet and then finishes with a pleasant dose of grainy tartness on the finish. Mildly bitter.
Medium body and carbonation.

It's probably a terrific lager, but I'm not a fan of the style and this one is very malt-forward. Bad news for a hop-lover like me. It certainly has much more flavor than your run-of-the mill mass-produced lager. It has a fairly deep golden coloring with lots of lacing on the pour.
