Pours tan with a high fluffy white head - way darker than any pilsner I've seen. The smell is bread dough and green grass, with something sharp and almost spicy in it. The taste is rich and doughy, with some savory notes going into a bitter twinge at the end. It's a little thick, highly carbonated. All in all, this is a very good lager, but I don't buy it as a pilsner - more like a dortmunder or even a bock. I'd drink it if I saw it again, and gladly, but it's not at all to style.

Poured into Founders Bolt Cutter glass

Pour: Pours a dark copper brown with two fingers worth of off white head. Settles down quickly to a small ring. Rather transparent while being a mahogany.

Smell: Smells crisp and has a big malty base. Mild hop presence but just a ton of bready malts. The hops do create some spice.

Taste: Very crisp, malty and bread like. The hops create a spice and the malt base is cracker, bread forward.

Mouthfeel: Light to just possibly touching moderate body. Moderate carbonation and very crisp and quite refreshing.

Overall: Ok beer. Straightforward but enjoyable for what it is.

Pours a huge, dense, white head. Huge aroma of grassy hops and a bit of sweet malt behind that. A gorgeous dark gold color. Starts with a nice grassy hop bitterness that builds into a medium bitterness. It sits at this bitterness for a few seconds (which is unexpected). A huge wave of malt begins to well up, and takes this into a smooth bliss.

This is a really, really smooth lager. It has a fair bit of hop bitter in the front, and the malt finish is superb, but I find the middle to be a bit lacking. I prefer the profile of Totally Naked or Blonde a bit more. There is a good hoppiness and maltiness, but the transition between those two elements is just not up to par with typical New Glarus offerings.
Don't get me wrong; this is a VERY good brew. But it's not New Glarus's typical level of stellar.
