I almost forgot to rate this one, since I was more intent on enjoying the first 5 and putting off the tasting instead of rating the first one like I usually do.
A-Poured a clear copper-amber w/faint orange-red hue; 1-finger head quickly faded, and the thin cap that remained lasted about 2-3 minutes, leaving some lacing.
S-Smooth, creamy malt, slightly sweet w/rustic overtones and reminiscent of golden brioche out of the oven. Faint hops w/light herbal and floral notes are in there, and there is a wisp of grape in the back that I pick up after I take a couple sips and go back to the nose.
T&M-The flavor satisfies the high expectation set by the aroma. Toasted malt and fresh grain dominate, with a light sweetness that accentuates the creamy, medium-bodied brew and its lively carbonation, and that is offset by the delicate hop finish. Aftertaste is of fresh grain, faint herbs, and light grape. Excellent balance and harmony.
D-A very enjoyable beer...not a style I usually seek out, but I will make this one an annual grab.
