12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. pours a rich auburn amber with a single finger of loose, tan head that retains poorly and leaves a soapy rim after a half minute.
aroma is of caramel malts, lightly sweet with crystal malts and a bit of bready malt in the background. a standard marzen in the nose. a touch of grain shows itself after some warming.
taste is more of the same with a blandness that hurts the overall brew. for an oktoberfest, this lacks the richness that makes the style so palatable. dissapointing on the palate.
mouthfeel is medium bodied and mildly bland on the palate with a crisp finish of little residual.
drinkability is decent. very drinkable, but only because the brew lacks any distinct characteristics. not the best brew from New Glarus, but worth a try.
