A nice looking brew, ruddy amber in hue, and capped with a sandy coloured, sudsy one finger head. Not much for retention or lacing, and is mildly carbonated.
A very nice nose of toasted bicuit, a touch of honey, and earthy hops with the scent of wet leaves and green grass. A mild touch of cooked veggies is also present and pleasant.
The flavour is much like the nose, rich toasty malts with some residual sweetness. Hints of melanoidin only adds to the depth of the malt. The hops play a supporting role, but add significant depth with their tasty earthiness.
Another excellent lager from New Glarus. Rich malts have a great yet subdued counterpoint in the earthy hops. Slightly sweet, yet finishes dry due to the toasty, biscuit flaours from the malts as well as the earthy hops.
The whole package makes for a very drinkable brew. The light to medium body makes for a tasty, refreshing, and fairly sessionable beer. The only obstacle is the alcohol which at 6.25%, would start to catch up with the drinker somewhat quickly. A brew I've enjoyed before, and helped get me into taking beer much more seriously, and a brew that im glad to have back after a year hiatus. Hope to see and drink it again next year.
