Notes/Commercial Description:
Pure and crisp this is a beer with nothing to hide. Wisconsin two-row barley malt ensures a mellow and smooth body. We imported Noble Hop varieties from Germany and the Czech Republic to ensure a fine mature aroma with no coarse bitterness.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall New Glarus Signature Pilsner Glass.

Appearance: Pours a clear pale golden yellow with a lot of rising bubbles. About three fingers of white head that slowly fade into a patchy layer. Leaves a good amount of lacing around the glass.

Smell: A grainy and malty pilsner like aroma. Pale malts and wheat grains with hints of biscuit, cracker, straw, yeast, and barley. Good hints of citrus lemon. Also hints of grass and European noble hops. A fairly simple and nice clean lager aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a simple clean and crisp lager taste. Wheat grains and barely malts mix with yeast and give a taste of biscuit, straw, cracker, and cereal grains. A nice taste of citrus lemon zest. Decent backing of Euro noble hops. Fairly earthy and grassy with a balanced sweetness. Simple but solid pils lager taste.

Mouthfeel: Fairly light bodied with a medium to high level of carbonation. Crisp, clean, and very smooth.

Overall: A nice pilsner lager style beer. Simple and light but nicely tasty and refreshing.

This was sent to me by BeerFMAndy. Thanks Andy!

Only 80% here on BA and still in the top 30 in its style class. Not a popular style, for sure.

Served in a shaped-glass.

A: After a rather vicious pour, I summoned up a good 1.5 finger head or so, solid white in color and clumpy in texture. The liquid was damn near straw color with a slight chill haze.

S: Sweet puffs of barley and yeast, delightfully fragrant, and without much bitterness so far.

T: Extremely mild in its flavor profile, but that was kinda what they were going for here anyway. Fresh filtered water, mild barley component, and VERY subtle sweetness.

M: This one just goes right through ya. Damn! It didn't sit on me heavy at all, maybe part of that was the very spritzy carbonation bill. Lots of air here!

O: Nothing earth shattering, just a really nice flagship, standard line-up brew by a truly great brewery.

Special thanks to my buddy Taylor who brought a New Glarus variety pack straight from Wisconsin all the way down here to Charleston. Thanks, Taylor!

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass at fridge-cellar temperature.

L – Straw color with a 3-finger white bubbly and foamy head. Nice retention and some pretty good patchy lacing. Clear with lots of bubbles.

S – Bready, grainy, and cereal malts with some acetaldehyde (green apple) yeast and a subtle floral and grassy hop aroma.

T – Follows the nose. Sweet nearly all the way through with bready, grainy, and cereal malts and a small amount of acetaldehyde. A very subtle slightly bitter herbal and spicy hop presence shows up at the finish. Very subtle.

F – Light-bodied with great carbonation, a crisp mouthfeel, and a grainy, earthy, and dry finish. Earthy, herbal, spicy hop flavors linger for a little while. The intense carbonation provides a throat-tingling perceived acidity.

O – This is a pretty good lager. The presence of acetaldehyde and the lack of strong presence from noble hops both surprise me. On the plus side, it has a solid malt presence and is very drinkable and sessionable. I can see this being a great “gateway” beer.
