Bottle. Reviewed on 4-25-2011 (reposted do to merger) Poured into Central Waters snifter:
A - Golden hay, bit yellow and just slightly darker brown, amber hues around the edges. Pour produces a rich, frothy eggshell white head an inch thick that eventually dies into strong ring around the edges with murky clouds in the middle. Slightly sticky lacing retention.
S - Light pineapple, grapefruit, orange peel and papaya. Bit of caramelized malts and hints of lemonade.
T - Nice mangos, pineapple, bits of grapefruit and strong citrus notes. A tiny bit malty and bready backbone, but mostly citrus up front. Pine notes are there in the background but not as bitter as I though it would be, or would have liked it to be. Not too bad though.
M - Really smooth and crisp. Carbonation is really good. The tingle of the piney hops leaves the mouth a bit dry but it is really refereshing.
O - This is a really nice DIPA. Very nice flavors and smell. Is this a 9% ABV brew?!? Nothing that I get from the taste or smell or feel suggests that this is a decently high ABV, but somehow it is. I like this a lot better than Hopslam and Double Trouble. Nicely done, New Glarus!

No bottling date that I can see.
A: Pours a cloudy straw/orange color. So cloudy it's almost white - looks almost exactly like a witbier. Tall, frothy and effervescent offwhite head. Big island of foam and lots of heavy, continuous lacing everywhere.
S: Oooh nice. Candied oranges and lemons. A little grapefruit thrown in. Spicy resinous pine. Nice hop variety. Maybe some bready malt?
T: Not as huge of a hop bomb as I was expecting from the aroma. Citrusy with grapefruit and orange, but much less so. Lots and lots and lots of spicy, piney hops everywhere. Not overly bitter, there is a substantial bready malt here backing it up. Wave of drying bitterness in the finish, along with sort of a salty, spicy pine kicking around. Hints of grapefruit and more pine in the drying, lingering aftertaste.
M: Somewhat heavy, quite bitter and dry on the back end.
O: Nice balanced but very hoppy at the same time. Big, bold hoppy flavors with a strong enough malt base to balance it out (mostly anyway). Only really get substantial bitterness in the bitter drying finish, the rest of the time it's quite well balanced.
