medium amber in color. Much darker than than the normal kristalweizen.
Beautiful creamy head, great retention. good carbonation.
Smells of malts, fresh bread, clove big on bananas, plums, almost a vanilla-white chocolate note, cider spiced doughnuts, apples, pears, pepper, heat, a cinnamon like note, nutmeg, really nice well balanced.
flavors to suit..lemon, banana, pear, apple, malt musty grains, peppers, yeast, cider.Really well balanced and absolutely delicious.
Great balance of carbonation, malty body and yeast spice to create a fantastic mouthfeel.
Not your typical kristalweizen, but immensely enjoyable and another great offering from what is rapidly becoming one of my favorite breweries.

This beer poured out much darker than I expected. The color of this beer was a nice looking amber color with a fluffy white head on top. The retention is moderate and not much lacing at all. The smell of the beer is much like a traditional Weizen brew, there is an additional caramel sweetness in there too. The taste has the typical banana and clove upfront with a very nice sweet malt finish. Very nice flavor on this beer. The mouthfeel is smooth, decent carbonation, light bodied, drinkable. Overall I was impressed with this beer. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I did.

12oz bottle: This one pours a crystal clear amber color. There was a good sized light beige head on it. It didn’t linger long, but did leave some lacing. It has an interesting nose. There is a slight sourness to it. Get some apples in there, along with some faint banana. Faint hints of clove and cinnamon. Also a touch of wheat. The taste is very good. A hint of sourness to it. Wheat, some of the clove and cinnamon, faint apple and banana. An excellent beer!

Served chilled in a Weizen glass

A - pours a clear copper, large head with lots of staying power. Darker than I expected for a kristalweizen, but Dan says on the bottle, this is "his take" on the style, so I'll trust him.

S - spicy, clove, banana, a bit more subtle than its cousin Dancing Man, but definitely present and pleasant.

T - again, lots of spicy clove and banana, not too sweet, a good balance

M - good amount of carbonation, thicker than I expected, yet very clean. No hint of alcohol.

O - I really liked this offering from NG, definitely not just a filtered version of Dancing Man, a unique beer of its own and one I could definitely throw back a few of.

Poured from bottle into pint glass.
Aroma is heavy on banana, clove, some vanilla Similar to their Dancing Man Wheat.
Appearance is outstanding. Pour amber orange, and a frothy tan foam so thick was similar to a root beer float.
Taste has a medium sweetness and lightly sour.
Palate is light in body, slick and fizzy on the tongue.
Fun, different than average fall/winter beer.

Pours a beautiful golden amber color with a thick brown head into my glass. A hell of a head too! Takes forever to recede.

Aromatic with citrus, clove and wheat in the nose. Wow, certainly smells very tasty.

Spicy with clove, light citrus and possibly coriander (?) in the taste.

Body fades out a bit in the middle but otherwise, flavors hold steady for a sweet, dry finish.

I can't say that I've had many examples of this style but I certainly can say that I enjoy this example!

I enjoyed this beer from the comfort of my own living room. From the 12oz bottle to my Schlafly weizen glass.

Appearance: Pours amber/reddish color with a fluffy, soapy, dirty white head that dissipated quickly.

Smell: flowery, cloves, banana bread and slightly spicy.

Taste: Very sweet, bread-like malts and wheat and banana cloves come through as well.

Mouthfeel: Medium/light bodied, smooth with nice carbonation and a dry finish.

Drinkability: Very drinkable and will recommend. I’m enjoying the 6-pack I picked up even though this is octoberfest season.

My first of this style. Got from a trade. Pours a deep orange red with large creamy head that has just a hint of orange color to it. Aroma is strong pears, wheat, funky yeast, banana, more sweet pears. Very nice. Light mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Tastes like biting into a fresh pear. Hints of cinnamon that do not overpower, but supplement the beer very nicely. Not overly sweet at all and is quite refreshing. Nicely balanced brew that one could drink all night. This is really fantastic.

poured from a bottle into a tucher glass in the classic hefeweizen pour. beer has been out less than a month, so even without a dated bottle, i know its pretty fresh.

a- pours a clear amber color with a huge billowing thick white head. like a clear heffeweizen basically right in the style.

s- huge amounts of the classic hefeweizen style smells, banana, clove, bubble gum and other sugar sweetness. it smells so delicious honestly

t- taste is true to the nose. more banana, clove and wheat sweetness. must more complex than I had anticipated and I am pleasantly surprised.

m- feel is quite carbonated, but still manages to stay creamy. flavors dont linger too long.

i might not be the most well versed in this style, but I have had enough hefeweizen to know that this guy is delicious. once again new glarus has shown that they are the US king of classic german styles.

A: Golden amber shade with a huge fluffy white head.

S: Perfume-like banana/clove yeast, with a bit of malt underneath.

T: Yeast is more restrained in the flavor, allowing the malt to step out. Bready and slightly sweet, with a faint touch of fruity hops. Finish is short and clean.

M: Medium body with light-medium carbonation. Overall, mouthfeel is pretty soft and smooth.

For a mild easy drinker, this is a great beer. Smooth, but plenty of personality here.

12oz into a pint.

A: Pours crisp and clear, red body. The head is off white and settles to a thin mat. Carbonation is flowing in a steady and free manor. Lacing is left in low levels.

S: Aroma is soft and present, with nice levels of warm fermented fruity esters. Clove and banana blend good with the Munich and Vienna presence.

TM: Body is light on the palate, while still being rich and having a somewhat thick presence to it. The amber malts induce a cookie like note. Mouthfeel is in high levels of carbonation like a good wiezen should be.

O: Overall this is a very well rounded brew, a nice welcoming beer, with a substantial body, while holding a very nice weizen presence. Very nicely done, will be returning to this one many times.

OK, I'm not sure what a Kristalweizen is supposed to be. I suppose a filtered wheat maybe? Kristal would be clear. This fits.

We are in Wisconsin, criss crossing the southern tier of the state, and trying lots of beer. Unfortunately, there isn't going to be enough time to try as much as I would like. I think I am getting acclimated to the beer here. I liked this immediately. It's clean and crunchy with a great yeasty taste, loads of hops without going overboard, and a great wheat taste. It's a little dark. Very nice.

I'm impressed.

Copper in color with lots of active carbonation that produces a massive cap of thick foam.

Lots going on in the smell. Lots of clove and banana with spice notes behind. Very inviting.

Not as big on the flavor as the nose suggested, but still more than satisfying. Kind of a light bready/biscuity taste with subtle nuances of the clove and banana. Hints of spice and hops in there as well. Very flavorful for such a low alcohol beer.

The feel just has too much carbonation going on in it, otherwise it would be fine. Has a light to medium feel, which makes it feel much bigger than what you would expect from a lower abv beer.

A very drinkable beer with lots of flavor. I could see myself drinking several of these easily and doing so nearly year round except for the bitter cold winter months. Another solid beer by NG.

12 fl oz brown glass bottle with standard pressure acquired as part of a trade with the gracious crewfan16. Thanks, buddy. My first New Glarus beer ever. Expectations are high as can be given this brewery's reputation. Served into a Bell's pilsner glass in me sister's gaff in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Not paired with food.

Served straight from the refrigerator and allowed to warm a bit over the course of consumption. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: Pours an impressive four finger soft beige, darisay light pink colour frothy head of great cream, good thickness, and good retention. Lacing is nonexistent. Body colour is a clear vibrant dark copper. Looks appealing. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show.

Sm: Surprisingly evocative banana, pale malts, light subtle caramel, clean malts, and more fruity estery notes that ring indistinct. Quite pleasant; banana is dominant but seems well balanced against the other notes. Very fresh and appealing. Some yeasty notes. No alcohol is detectable.

T: Banana, pale clean malts. Subtle fruit throughout. Wow, that's perfectly balanced. A refreshing malt foundation. Full bodied yet subtle and evocative. The banana is particularly fresh and suitable for the profile. Tasty and refreshing. Surprisingly complex for the style. Cinnamon and clove when I look for them.

Mf: Near perfection for the style and flavours. Beautifully smooth and wet. Fresh, crisp, refreshing. Delicately light yet somehow ideally suited to supporting the careful balance of the flavours. Wow. It is a bit too coarse on the finish, but I'm nitpicking.

Dr: Probably the best beer I'll ever have in this style. A homerun from New Glarus, confirming the hype I've heard. Really an incredible beer. Incredibly drinkable and refreshing. I could drink this all night. Would be wonderful on draught.

A: pours a amber/brownish red color with good clarity, dense pillowy white head, a thin layer sticks around decent lacing

S: nose is full of fruity notes of banana and orange, lots of spicy notes of cloves, cinnamon, and coriander, hints of wheat malt mixed in as well, very fragrant, some creamy notes of vanilla as well

T: taste starts with creamy banana, very fruity, before becoming sweet..malts and spice come through, finish is malty with touches of clove and a dash of tartness on the finish

MF: creamy, smooth. mellow carbonation

O: this is a well balanced and flavorful weizen beer. This is my first Kristalweizen so I don't really have a point of reference. I imagine its not much different from a hefe or dunkelweizen, just somewhere in between with the color

Very tasty wheat beer from the good folks north of the Cheddar Curtain. (I'm a FIB...what can I say?).

Appearance: Dark bronze color. Clear. Good, white head that lingered to about an inch throughout the sampling.
Smell: Doughy, bread-y, grassy, clove. Clearly, a wheat beer.
Taste: Herbal, zesty, refreshing. And is there a trace of smoke in this bad-boy? I'm thinking yes.
Mouthfeel: Clean, balanced. Dry-ish finish.
Overall: Dan and Deb give a nice twist on a classic Bavarian-style "kristall" wheat beer. Big props for the darker-than-usual color, and although it has all the required components of a classic German wheat beer, I don't think I'm lying when I say that there is some (at least a hint) of smoke/rauch in this too. Very good indeed!

12oz bottle.

Pours a crystal clear golden amber with a huge fluffy white head that recedes fairly quickly to a small foamy cap.

Aroma is light banana sweetness, lemon zest and hints of different spices such as clove and cinnamon.

Taste is more of the mild sweetness, definitely the bananas, almost like a dialed-down hefe in the taste. Light clove and some biscuity malts.

Mouthfeel is really creamy for the style, smooth and highly carbonated.

I don't have much experience with the style but this has to be one of the best representations out there. It's definitely the best I've had.

A - Clear light reddish orange body. The head is pale tan and foamy with nice stamina at around an inch tall.

S - Banana and subtle spice.

T - Banana and mildly roasted malts. This is a beverage that has sessionable written all over as far as the taste goes.

M - Soft and smooth throughout this beer goes down well.

~ As I mentioned above, this is a beer that I would certainly sit down and session. I recommend any beer fans give this a sampling.

A - pours a light caramel brow color with a huge billowing head that settles down nicely to for about a 1/4" head that remains throughout

S - the nose is cinnamon, loads of bubblegum, and some spicy nutmeg

T - the taste is very similar to the nose. Sweet bubblegum flavors all over the place with a touch of toasted and caramel malts through the middle. On the back end the cinnamon and some spicy clove come into the mix. Spicy bubblegum is on the finish with ever so soft hops.

M - nice and creamy with a full body taboot

D - solid wheat beer. Packed with lots of flavor in all of the right places with a nice look and aroma as well. Too bad I only have one bottle of this as I would love to drink some more of this.

Clear, rosy copper hued with a moderate-sized beige head that fades a bit quick and leaves thin rings of lace.
Clove-dominated nose, with a dusting of cinnamon and vanilla pod. Sweet trickles of wheat back up the spicier notes.
A snap of wheat malt as it hits the tongue. Lightly sweet, with some drier bready (almost crackery) notes. Clove is predominant, but pepper adds some prickly spicy notes as well. Hopping is minor, but congruently peppy to the weizen trait. Ends balanced, with some lingering banana pudding.
Light bodied, slowly effervescent. A Dancing Man Light. A nice quaffer that still rings with the hallmarks of New Glarus' excellent Weizen heritage.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint
A very tasty lower abv beer. NG knows how to brew wheat beer and this one is another great example of that.
Look is a golden red with a white head.
Smell spices clove
Taste a lot like Dancing Man but a little more spice and less wheat.
Feel is on the thinner side with a lot of carbonation.
Overall Who ever described this as a Dancing Man light was right on. A lower abv beer packed full of flavor.

fine representation of a hefe style beer. aroma and taste remind me of banana bread with cinnamon streusel topping. great malt profile, and taste is off the charts in the fresh grain and malt category. i cant see how they could improve on this one very much. i would definitely buy it again.

Had never seen this NG on the shelves. Can't remember the last Kristalweizen I had, interesting that the small brewery from over the border wanted to make one.

A -- Clear, deep gold with a massive, off-white head that lasts long into the beer.

S -- Nicely mild banana/bubblegum with vague graininess back.

T -- Citrus character up front, somewhat tart, that blends into the banana esters and then into smooth malts. Finishes with a mildly tart citrus ester and light spiciness.

M -- Mouthfeel is soft and smooth with a light body.

O -- A very well made take on a seldom seen style. Has all the characteristics you'd expect in a Bavarian Hefeweizen without the cloudy yeast.

12 ounce bottle poured into pint glass. Huge frothy off-white head sitting on a clear medium-amber body. Good retention and moderate lacing.

Aroma is banana and clove. Light citrus and bubble gum, and mildly wheaty. Touch of cinnamon and vanilla.

Very clean, crisp flavor. Fruity and lightly spiced, with just a minimal wheaty presence.

Sharp, crisp, light-medium body with good carbonation.

I'm not a huge fan of most wheat beers, but I always come in with an open mind. This is a very clean, very drinkable beer. Solid, if not particularly memorable.
