Appearance - Dark brown. Appears clear. Medium-talll, soapy, light brown head. Fairly persistent.
Smell - Citrusy hops most prominent. Pine and oranges. Not picking up much malt.
Taste - Relatively mild dose of sweet dark malts. Only moderately strong citrus hops. Net result is a kind of a dry chocolate orange flavor with a little pine, grass, molasses. Nicely balanced - nothing over the top, very dirinkable.
Mouthfeel - Medium and creamy. Dry finish.
Overall - I haven't had many different beers of this style. I can only imagine that many tilt well to one side or other of the malt/hops balance. This one steers a very successful middle course. Flavorful and very nearly quaffable.
