12oz brown bottle with no freshness date
LOOK: Bubbly, hazed golden straw, big head, good retention
SMELL: Peppery, taffy, dragon fruit, chalky yeast, biscuity, clementine pith
TASTE: Expressively crisp, lighter bodied, peppery, gummy, ginger-like, biscuity, earthy, fresh grain, dried grass, bread crust, phenolic, semi-dry finish
A delicate brew in someways but very intricate the more you sip it. Without a doubt one of the best Saisons I have tried this year. Beers like this would be worth a visit to the brewery and I am pretty sure I have said this about of their beers before.

Poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint.
A - Hazy and golden with lively carbonation. Pours a big white head that recedes immediately. No sign of a head after a short while.
S - Bright lemon zest with some lighter orange peel. Also there is a juicy fruit character and some banana esters.
T - Light/mild biscuit malt flavor up front. There is a touch of wheat. A nice peppery/earthy/spiced flavor blends well. Has a crisp/dry finish that leaves a pleasant spice aftertaste alongside some warm phenols.
M - Light to medium bodied, high carbonation.
O - The appearance was a let down from the vanishing head, I found the smell stylistically complex along with its taste. A little warm in the finish but still a great beer.

A-Pours clear pale gold with ample white head that leaves minimal lacing.
S-Spicy phenol aroma upfront, slight pineapple sweetness with a very slight tartness.
T-Very complex flavors of spicy/warm phenols balanced with a slight fruity banana sweetness. Slight malt sweetness with an underlying, very slight tartness.
M-Moderately warm alcohol, medium bodied with sufficient carbonation.
Overall, a really good saison. The sweetness and the spice/phenol flavors balance very nicely. There may be too much phenol warmth. If you're a fan of the style I'd suggest trying this beer.

Pours every so slightly hazy light golden/deep straw color with a bright white head that lingers nicely and leaves some lacing. The aroma is very inviting--quite peppery, citrusy, fruity, some phenols. The flavor is wheaty, quite spicy and peppery from start to finish. The swallow and afterwords is rather dry and slightly tart. There is some lemon zest in the flavor as well. The body is medium-light and carbonation medium-high. Overall a very refreshing, flavorful beer, still have yet to find a thumbprint series to miss the mark.

Served chilled in a Duvel tulip
A - pours a golden yellow, 2 fingers of white head quickly appear then disappear, leaving a ring of lacing. Lots of visible carbonation
S - Initially a bit of funky yeast, followed by malt, spice, and a bit of citrus
T - begain yeast with a little bit of lemon and malt, ending with a spicy bitterness
M - well-carbonated, slightly bitter, quite refreshing on a hot day
O - I'm not terribly experienced with this style, but I enjoyed it. Am I wrong in considering this similar to the R&D Golden Ale?

A. Dark straw to light golden amber appearance. Big white head that isn't very dense.
S. Yeast, pepper, banana, grain - pretty nice smell.
T. This has some NG hefe characteristics with one noticeable difference - pepper. This Saison is fairly spicy, which is a good thing. Some lemon and orange zest, banana and bready malt rounds things out. Good but not great.
M. Medium bodied with good carbonation.
O. I like this beer but I was expecting a bit more from NG. It is easy drinking and would make for a great thirst quencher after mowing the lawn. I've gotta give Hinterland's Saison a slight edge over this beer.

I got a single bottle of this from Woodman's in Janesville, WI for $2.69 in July 2012. It's always great to see New Glarus with a new beer. This saison brew is very yeasty in scent and taste with hints of lemon zest, ginger, and banana. Drinks quite well with its rich and creamy texture. Overall very tasty, but why would you expect anything less from New Glarus?

$9.40 a 4-pack at Roy's Market in New Glarus, Wi.
Served in a Duvel Tulip
(don't really do reviews so bare with me)
Appearance: Yellowish-copper color, low carbonation, 1 finger length foam.
Smell: Like a witbier, perhaps due to the yeast, and tart.
Taste: Similar to the smell, can also taste ginger notes. Clean taste, leaving hardly any back flavors.
Mouthfeel: Can feel a moderate zing coat my tongue from the ginger. Not harsh at all, sense a low alcohol content. Wish there was a little more carbonation to it.
Overall: A quality, easy-going saison was the impression I got from my first sip. A good candidate for someone that wanted to try the style for the very first time. Hard to tell if its a worthy contender in the cellar.
(might have to update after trying a few more)

Upon pouring, I was surprised by the incredibly persistent and tight bubbles! So persistent, it foamed up the glass like champagne.
In the nose, ripe apple and pear flesh, candy, a whiff of grainy bread a wee-bit of Belgian yeasty funk.
In the mouth, I was taken by the utter drinkability, yet complexity. A ton of fruity apple/pear/peach flavors backed by a nice, firm bitterness. As the beer warms, it gains a sort of tart lemon finish, giving it a undeniable acidity that screams refreshing.
Overall, this beer is insanely good. Is Wisconsin the new Belgium?! With Hinternland Saison and now this gem, I'm thinking so! Incredibly complex, delicious and refreshing.

New saison from NG which is pretty exciting in spite of my general disinterest in saisons.
A- Pours a bright yellow with a small foamy white head that falls back quickly
S- Clove, banana, bubblegum, some other spices
T- Same as the nice but the spices/clove come through stronger than the nose. Not as strong as some other saisons which i like but still present
M- Nice and light, best part of the beer. Super refreshing
O- A good take on a style I typically dislike. Kudos New Glarus
