Notes/Commercial Description:
Severe Drought, we shared the farmer’s horror as Wisconsin’s cherry crop failed! Dan bought what cherries he could. The Apple crop fared better. Then joy! A grand Wisconsin cranberry harvest. What will Dan brew with Apples, Cranberries and Cherries? Oh my! You hold the happy accident of Wisconsin’s favorite fruit aged in oak with an almost magical wild fermentation. Serendipity is a wondrous celebration that sparkles your senses and dances across your palate. A kaleidoscope of flavor discovered by accident in a sour ale!

Cheers to the unexpected.

Appearance: Like the laughter of a child, serendipity pours a ruby red color with hints of amber when held to the light. With an off white head and quality lacing, it reminds you of that high end call girl that took your spirit so many years ago. This beer is absolutely gorgeous from the moment you open the bottle to the moment you throw it back.

Smell: Serendipity would, without doubt, make Johnny Appleseed proud. Immediately evident is the strong apple nose followed by sharp cranberry and cherry accents. An oak aroma is delicately placed, but is definitely playing off the bench.

Taste: Like sipping apple cider at an orchard, you can’t help but taste the strong mellow presence of apples in your glass. The cranberries and cherries unquestionably bring tartness to the beer, while obscured wood notes bring a timid earthiness to the beverage.

Mouthfeel: New Glarus has created the perfect blend of spritzy carbonation paired with a light body, to help pull out the tartness of Serendipity, while still allowing for a crisp and refreshing finish.

Overall: If you are interested in a beer that will bring you that Christmas cheer year round, look no further than this New Glarus creation. As far as fruit beers go, the balance and complexity of this beer is second to none. So whether you are a beer veteran or new to the club, it’s almost impossible to not fall in love with Serendipity.

The beer pours in a clear ruby red color.

The aroma hits exactly as expected. It punches with sweet and tart apple and then a punch of juicy cranberry, with a bit of funk.

The flavor has a tart apple in the front and then a sweet cranberry and slight cherry flavor on the end. It hits all notes. It drinks very well with the balance of tartness and sweetness.

There's a champagne like carbonation that rolls around.

It's a well done beer, but it is a bit too reminiscent of Martinelli's Apple Cider.
