750 ml bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Bottle gifted to me from my mom on one of her recent trips to Wisconsin. My second of the fruit beers from these guys, and I have only the best expectations considering how amazing New Glarus Wisconsin Belgian Red was.
Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.
A - It pours a beautiful dark cranberry ruby colored body. Some good clarity when held to the light. About two fingers of pinkish-tan head that leaves scattered spotty lacing. Looks a lot like the New Glarus Wisconsin Belgian Red in appearance, if maybe a bit darker? Either way, it looks very nice.
S - Another truly beautiful aroma. An enticing aromatic fruit bouquet. Everything is apparent - the cranberries, the cidery apples, and the vinous cherries. I'm going to go ahead and say that it smells a bit more earthy and oaky than yesterday's beer with some very minor notes of wood in the background, but it could just be the apples.
T - The taste follows the nose - a remarkably authentic, natural, juicy, delicious fruit beer. Everything is in play - the cranberries, cherries, & apples. There is almost a strawberry type flavor going on as well. This thing is truly delicious.
M - The feel is juicy and sticky. Smooth and lightly tart on the finish. Medium-light bodied with perfect carbonation.
Overall, this certainly was a serendipitous event if there ever was one. I am going to go ahead and put it on par with the New Glarus Wisconsin Belgian Red for now since both beers were equally top notch fruit beers. More happy accidents like this one, please.
