Tasting this beer on the anti-winter day, the 4th of July, as fireworks go off outside.

Pours a clear medium rusty amber. Plenty of visible carbonation. One finger of off-white head, good retention, relaxing to a fuzzy cap with a thick ring around the edges. Not much lacing.

Smell is warm, toasty, and wintry spiced. Strikes me much more as a winter warmer than a Scottish ale, but whatever. Spicy, toasty, not much else.

Taste is, again, solidly in the winter warmer box. Toasted malts, buttery and biscuity, backed up by some pie spicy notes (nutmeg, allspice, maybe a touch of clove). I don't know what they put in this beer, but it reminds me of pie crust, not Scotland.

Feel is good. Warm, medium-light, a little fluffy in the carbonation. Nothing remarkable, but somehow I'm really enjoying it.

A solid beer. Toasty, fully of winter-spice aromas and flavors. Scottish ale? Really? Whatever it is, it's tasty.

A: Easy pour with a nice two finger head that leaves some lacing as it subsides, very nice copper coloring

S: Aromas of toffee, raw sugar, some spice and earthy yeast esthers.

T: Toasted malt, toffee, allspice with a dry woodsy finish.

M: Decent carbonation, medium body with a resinous aftertaste.

O: Interesting take on a scotch ale and definately a nice beverage on a cold night.

An A+ Winter Warmer from my friends at New Glarus.
I bought this March of this year and let it hang in the cellar till well now. His buddy is chilling till next year.
A: great pour, nice thin head, a bit off white
S: Nice notes of spice and malt. Some vanilla and caramel
T: Mouth filling, lots of richness but not a stupid amount like some winter warmers. Not boozy at all.
M: as stated above, just a great coating of winter happiness.
O: IOm gonna let the other one hang for a bit longer, see what happens. This was just excellent and what I wanted.

Pours a caramel straw color with a smallish head that fades quickly in my Duvel tulip.

Aroma produces Belgian rock candy sugar, alcohol and dark fruit.

The first taste has a surprising coconut flavor that is quite pronounced. The second taste has a less pronounced coconut component and some alcohol and dark fruits come into play. The finish has some residual candy sugar sweetness that is not cloying at all. Rich malts and a slight fruitiness are present.

The mouthfeel is rich yet somewhat sharp from the alcohol. Light carbonation and a medium/full body.

Overall I like this winter warmer. it's a bit boozy (necessary for warming!) but pairs well with the candy sugar flavor.
