@ Mikey's Top Shelf Pub, Pleasant Prairie WI

Ugly muddy pond water brown color beer. Sticky lace drapes itself all down my glass. Not a sexy looking brew.

Assertive sweet strawberry and rhubarb aroma and flavor, New Glarus nailed it. And strawberry is a tough fruit to carryover into brewing. At least there are a lot of bad strawberry beers.

I know a 5'er when I smell/taste one. Honestly I can't think of how this beer could be much better. I'd like to see it funked up a little but I suppose that would be a different beer entirely. Phenomenal ugly beer.

Poured into a wine glass, a murky brown with little to no head. This kind of looks gross. The smell is AMAZING though. The smell is straight up Strawberry Preserves. Go to the store, pick up a jar of Smuckers Strawberry preserves, open and inhale and that's what this beer smells like. Taste perfectly mirrors the smell. Not getting much of the rhubarb, but I really don't care. The only complaint I guess is that the sweetness starts to naw at you after about 4 ounces. It's like getting too much of a good thing. In small doses, this is amazing.

The pour created a cloudy dull brown body. The head was tan and short lived.

The smell was strawberry jam. Yummy!

The taste was of strawberry pie. Pie crust malts and a tart snap of fresh strawberries and I suppose rhubarb. Rich and delicious. Not too sweet.

The body was medium density and the carbonation was plentiful.

I would drink this at any chance.

750 ml bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. My fourth of the fruit beers from New Glarus Brewing Co. Expectations are excellent based on how amazing the others all were.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a pinkish coppery ruby colored body with a finger of frothy pinkish tan head. Some thin spotty lacing.

S - The smell is very juicy & fruity smelling. This thing literally smells like a fruit roll-up in beer form.

T - Taste follows the nose - deliciously authentic and fruity strawberries. I'm not entirely sure what rhubarb tastes like, but I'm more than confident I'm tasting it. Some light earthy / woodsy elements to the beer, but it is mainly fruit forward.

M - The feel is crisp, clean, fruity, and juicy. Perfectly tart. Smooth, creamy, and ridiculously easy drinking.

Overall, another wonderful and delicious fruit beer from New Glarus. I feel like this one is more on par with the New Glarus Serendipity, but I rated all four of the beers the same since they were all equally delicious and authentic tasting.

750 ml wax dipped bottle poured into a tulip.
4% ABV

A - Muddy pond water brown, the color leaves something to be desired but, the combination of strawberries and rhubarb obviously don't look sexy. That said, the loose and bubbly head of foam that tops the beer retains aroma and looks nice.

S - Earthy rhubarb notes peek through the bushel of ripe strawberries this beer offers with the classic brown ale malty notes from the fruit beers providing a base. Dusty and rustic in aroma, this fruit beer isn't as vibrant and explosive as the others New Glarus produces but it smells delicious in its own right.

T - Firm, juicy strawberry flavor explodes across the tongue like taking a bite right through the fruit itself. Tart notes of rhubarb follow through before the beer finishes with a touch of caramel and bread sweetness from the malts.

M - Strawberry Rhubarb's initial sweetness and medium body is offset by light tartness and a dry finish, respectively, leaving the beer pleasing and balanced across the tongue!

O - The outpouring of strawberries in New Glarus' Strawberry Rhubarb is by far one of the best examples of a strawberry beer actually tasting like fresh fruit, not artificial flavoring, which is stellar. When it comes down to the brass tacks though, Strawberry Rhubarb, as fantastic as it is, still doesn't measure up to New Glarus' other award-winning fruit beers. I'll still opt for a Serendipity!
