Appearance - An odd dank looking light brown. Quite hazy. Medium tall, white head with good retention.

Smell - Sweet strawberry is most prominent - almost a strawberry jam scent. A little sweet something else - I guess it must be rhubarb. The aroma could pass for a quality baked good.

Taste - Much less sweet than implied by the aroma. Rich natural strawberry flavor with a perfect amount of tartness.

Mouthfeel - Medium to full.

Overall - I'm not sure that, if I didn't know, I'd immediately peg this as beer. It is quite good though and unique among beers I've tried.

750ml purchased in July in Madison, WI. Shared over this past weekend with a few friends.

A- Murky pink and red infused pour to a snifter with plenty of things in solution providing haze. A white head rises up to one finger with a frothy texture falling to a ring and big bubbly islands. Pretty good retention and lacing ends up mostly spotty but plentiful.

S- Strawberry. Strawberry. Strawberry. A blast of fresh picked berries rises out of the glass with the feel of jam and fresh berries. I don't really know the smell of rhubarb but beyond the berries is a classic sweet syrup aroma found in all of these NG beers.

T- Fresh strawberries mixed with a tastefully sweet strawberry jam with a hint of tartness which must carry in from the massive amount of fruits. Rhubarb a bit for me but it blends in well with the strawberries.

MF- Fairly light bodied with a certain thickness from the fruit long chain sugars left unfermented. Slightly oily with medium carbonation. Smooth foamy, puffy consistency and a mildly tart finish.

I wish I had more words to say besides strawberry but that describes it very well. Once again, New Glarus captures a fruit flavor better than anyone else.

Pours a slightly murky brown with some red hues and a brownish off white head. Smell is big time fresh strawberries and some tart rhubarb. Flavor follows with up front sweet strawberry followed by a tinge of malts and a tad of sour rhubarb to finish. Light mouthfeel with high carbonation makes this super easy to put down the gullet. I was worried I wouldn't like this as other strawberry drinks have not been up my alley. But as usual New Glarus hit it on the nose with another fruit beer. Very nicely done. This was a hit all around.

750 ml bottle

Pours a burnt orange color with a slight haze. A prominent beige head with a bit of stickiness. Aromas of jammy strawberries are strongest. A little of that distinct rhubarb aroma if you look for it. Taste is fruity for sure. Strawberry (fruity, a bit seedy and fresh) with a bit of astringent sour rhubarb noted too. Light bodied with medium to slightly high carbonation. A bit of tartness to balance the upfront sweetness. Overall a refreshing easy to drink tasty beer. Yet to have anything but a super fruit beer from New Glarus. Good dessert beer/strawberry rhubarb torte-like

Poured from a waxed 750 ml bottle into a tall New Glarus Signature Pilsner Glass.

Appearance: Pours a deep copper amber with a lot of rising bubbles. Big three finger off white head that slowly recedes into a thinner creamy layer. Leaves a lot of lacing around the glass.

Smell: A very fruity and jammy aroma with lots of strawberry rhubarb esters. Literally smells like a mix of fresh squeezed strawberry juice and rhubarb pie with lots of fruit scents upfront. Fairly jam like scent as well. Light hints of apple and cherry in the mix. Fruit aroma is sweet and fairly tart. Subtle pale malt presence with a hint of biscuit and yeast. Aroma is fairly straight forward but very good.

Taste: As good and fruity as it smells, huge taste of strawberries throughout. Strawberry fruit juice and pie like rhubarb flavors are the dominant notes. Fruit flavor is sweet but not excessively syrupy. Nicely tart with a decent bitter balance. Jam like notes with some sugar. Also some subtle fruit notes of cherry and apple behind the strawberry. Background notes of soft pale malt with some biscuit and yeast. A very good fruit beer taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Sweet, creamy, and somewhat syrupy. Very juicy and smooth.

Overall: Another great fruit beer from New Glarus. Great strawberry fruit flavor with a good balance of sweetness and tartness.

A - Reddish purple - thick head & lacing, slightly transparent

S - Strawberry, rhubarb, raspberry, light sugar

T - slightly tart strawberry - finish has a sweet rhubarb. does taste a mix bag of pleasantly sweet fruits.

M - frothy, not too thick, full coverage, excellent carbonation, little bit of fiz

O - Outstanding. Frothy head retention last entirety of beer. Fruit flavors are excellent. I did hope the rhubarb brought a much higher sourness while its only mildly tart. Low ABV makes this an superb choice as a desert beer. Very refreshing. If your lucky to get your hands on one - it won't be a let down.

A - Poured a murky amber color with a nice bubbly off-white head.
S - strawberry preserves, sugar, some maltiness.
T - sweet strawberry jam with some tart fruit and rhubarb balancing out the sweetness on the back end.
M - good carbonation with a velvety smoothness. A little dry finish rounds out the sip
O - a very good fruit beer. If sweetness is your thing, NG is one of the better makers of these types of beer.

Pours a hazy grapefruit color with minimal head. Leaves a nice ring around the glass.

On the nose is huge fresh strawberries. Strawberry jam. Unreal how fresh it smells. Sour rhubarb. Like a big heaping scoop of strawberry cobbler.

Tastes like a slice of pie. Unreally fresh strawberries. Tart rhubarb. A little bit of bready notes on the finish. Big huge juicy strawberry flavor all the way throughout the beer. Wow. Amazingly fruity and fresh. So good.

Perfect mouthfeel. Light to medium bodied. Not watery at all. Perfectly carbonated. Just enough to keep the flavor alive and prick the tongue.

This beer is perfect for me. Would absolutely drink again and well worth what I traded to get it. Makes me want to make a trip to Wisconsin.

Big thanks to Jeff for this one. My girlfriend's super excited! 750ml bottle into Tired Hands stemware. Shared with schen9303.

Pours a massive, frothy, 3 finger light cream colored head with moderate to low retention. Beer is a clear mahogany rust. Lacing is stringy and spotty with great stick. Great looking brew!

Nose is sweet and aromatic. Strawberry rhubarb pie. Juicy with a ton of fruit puree. Excellent.

Opens sweet strawberry puree and juice. More of the same in the middle with a slight cinnamon sweetness and that signature New Glarus yeast flavor. Ends sweet and syrupy. Aftertaste is more of the same. Simple but enjoyable.

Light bodied with ample carbonation. Prickly and carbonated in the mouth and goes down syrupy. Finishes quick and abrasive with a lingering, sticky aftertaste. Solid.

This is pretty in line with the rest of New Glarus' fruit offerings. Clean, simple and delicious. I'm glad to have gotten to try this and I hope they keep this in the regular lineup.

750ml bottle, split

Hopleaf tulip. An odd looking beer - dark garnet, extremely cloudy. New Glarus are the undisputed (not open to debate) champions of the fruit beer style and its really exciting to see the line of 750's expand in the past year or so. Strawberry is an ingredient I have rarely seen translate well in a beer, until now. This is bursting with fruit flavor - a little tartness from the berry and a little sweetness from the rhubarb. This is an instant-classic and an incredible summer beer.

My favorite of the New Glarus fruit beers. It also helps that I love the tart sweet taste of rhubarb...

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Murky red body. Big off white head. Great collar.

Smell - Strawberry juice. A bit of creaminess. Strawberry always hints at a milkiness for me.

Taste - Rich strawberry. Still some creaminess. A hint of acetic tang. Like it wants to be sour. I can't pinpoint rhubarb, though.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Creamy. Doesn't taste that light.

Overall - Delicious but it lacks the juicy perfection of the other New Glarus fruit beers.

Pours a deep strawberry red and looks literally like I poured a strawberry rhubarb pie.

The aroma of strawberry and rhubarb just penetrates the nostrils deep and is marvelous.

The flavor is quite pungent but a little sweet for my taste.

The mouthfeel is exactly like a Red Bull.

Overall, great freaking beer, but a little sweet for my taste.

Pours a murky, crimson-amber color with a minimal head that quickly settled to a thin film. Not much for lacing is left down the glass.

One of the most aromatic beers I have had in quite some time. I can smell the strawberry from across the room. Sort of the strawberry schnapps aroma I remember from being a teenager. If I really dig my nose into the glass there is a sharp fruitiness that comes from the rhubarb.

Has a very sharp twang without being very acidic. The strawberry and rhubarb, not surprising many in the upper Midwest, is an excellent combination. Good strawberry flavor. Not really surprised that New Glarus was able to capture the essence of strawberry/rhubarb crisp in a bottle. New Glarus are leaps and bounds above everyone else when it comes to fruit beers.

Light body and feels the same as their other excellent fruit beers. I think this one could be a little undercarbonated however. Not much of a complaint though.

I am not the biggest strawberry/rhubarb fan, but this is an astonishing beer. I think they have done the best of the rhubarb beer attempts.

Poured from the bottle into a wine glass. 4/23

Pours earthy brown, murky, touch of white foam on top. Strong fruity smell very strawberry. Bursts forth. Rich fruit taste, some tart but evolves into a sweeter fruit. Full mouthfeel, really flavorful. Another winner.

750ml bottle, poured into a tulip glass

A- pours a murky golden brown color with a small fizzy off-white head that eventually disappears completely, leaving just some bubbles shooting to the top

S- exactly as described, it smells like a fresh strawberry pie, plenty of fresh strawberries, slight rhubarb tartness, even picking up a bit of malty flaky pie crust aroma. The strawberry doesn't smell artificial either, like with most fruit ales, pretty much spot on

T- immediately notice the contrast of sweet and tart, with the sweetness of strawberry and tartness of rhubarb. The strawberry sweetness is reminiscent of the syrup of a strawberry pie, or fresh strawberry jam. The finish continues sweet, with more strawberry on a slightly dry linger

M- medium viscous body with low carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a sweet finish that coats the mouth

O- a fruit beer that is true to it's description, it's pretty sweet and best shared, but a nice switch up from the usually mundane world of fruit beers

This poured with a strawberry colored murkiness that grew a fizzy fleeting head.

The scent is sweet Strawberry coupled with a caramel malt. Combined it has a waxy fruit roll up aroma.

Wow! This is freaking awesome. Giant Strawberry flavor but it has a sweet candy flavor that holds some grain and malt. The thing that impresses me most is that it holds all the sweetness of artificial strawberry yet still has a very natural tone.

The feel is very light, super crisp and easy to drink. Obviously the fact that it's only 4 pct helps this ease.

I am a fan of fruit beers and this is exceptional and should be other fruit beer fans Holy Grail.

750ml poured into a tulip glass

A: Hazy brownish golden... 2 finger head. Great lacing and above average head retention.

S: Unicorns, no wait... Narwhals. Either way I could take whiffs of this beverage all day long. Rich, sweet strawberry. Not subtle at all.

T: One of the few beers I have imbibed that the taste matched the smell spot on. Cream and strawberry. Rhubarb adds some very subtle tartness. Savory for days. Jam.

M: Perfect body in that it has plenty of substance w/ out being overwhelming.

O: Flat out a glorious beverage regardless of alcohol. Was a treat to try. Will clear the shelf if I ever see it anywhere in the future.

Split a bottle with family and it went over pretty well.

Reddish orange with a crimson highlight, lasting foam with arcs of sticky lace in the glass. Patchy skim on the surface after a few sips. Body has a bright clarity and the occasional stray rising bubble. Flecks of spotty lace in the glass.

Sweet strawberry in the nose, hints of light acid and mild funk, though fairly restrained.

Tart and creamy, big strawberry flavor with acidic tartness from the rhubarb. Light and spritzy, lingering fruitiness in the aftertaste. On par with the other fruit beers they make, about as tart as Serendipity, the strawberry taste is pretty assertive.

Poured from 750 ml into pint glass

A- a muddy brown with pinkish hues. A decent head but not too much. Honestly, this beer looks awful. If I just saw it without having had it I would drain pour it.

S- it gets better from here. Tons and tons of strawberries. Delicious delicious sweet strawberries. There's a little hint of tartness to it as well.

T- reminds me of strawberry jam. God I wish I could put this on a peanut butter sandwich. Sugary and sweet. Just like you're biting into a strawberry topped with sugar. Great taste.

M- perfect. Not thick but not thin. Good carbonation. Smooth and a little bit of tartness.

O- other than the look of the beer, this is a fantastic beer. I was worried it would taste like Red's atrawberry ale, but you can definitely tell its brewed with real strawberries and it has a natural taste.

Thanks Steasy66!

Appearance. Pours a murky orangy-brown with a thin off-white head.

Smell. Ripe juicy strawberries and a touch of that NG yeast that always smells a little bit dusty to me.

Taste. Big strawberry and a touch of tart rhubarb when I look for it. That NG yeast flavour is there (like I mentioned before, slightly dusty tasting to me) and a bit of smooth and sweet light malt.

Mouthfeel. Below medium body with fine, below medium carbonation.

Overall. Very nice beer that would be made better if I could get to like the NG yeast flavour.

Bottle: Poured a light murky brown/reddish color ale with a sizeable foamy head with OK retention and no lacing. Aroma of tart rhubarb notes with some lightly sweet raspberry notes. Taste is a lot more tart than I had expected with rhubarb notes being more dominant than the strawberry notes. Taste is more tart than the sweeter side associated with some of the New Glarus beers. Body is full with limited filtration and good carbonation. I enjoyed this beer quite lot but this is definitely more complex and bit less drinkable than I was expecting.

750 ml wax dipped bottle poured into a tulip.
4% ABV

A - Muddy pond water brown, the color leaves something to be desired but, the combination of strawberries and rhubarb obviously don't look sexy. That said, the loose and bubbly head of foam that tops the beer retains aroma and looks nice.

S - Earthy rhubarb notes peek through the bushel of ripe strawberries this beer offers with the classic brown ale malty notes from the fruit beers providing a base. Dusty and rustic in aroma, this fruit beer isn't as vibrant and explosive as the others New Glarus produces but it smells delicious in its own right.

T - Firm, juicy strawberry flavor explodes across the tongue like taking a bite right through the fruit itself. Tart notes of rhubarb follow through before the beer finishes with a touch of caramel and bread sweetness from the malts.

M - Strawberry Rhubarb's initial sweetness and medium body is offset by light tartness and a dry finish, respectively, leaving the beer pleasing and balanced across the tongue!

O - The outpouring of strawberries in New Glarus' Strawberry Rhubarb is by far one of the best examples of a strawberry beer actually tasting like fresh fruit, not artificial flavoring, which is stellar. When it comes down to the brass tacks though, Strawberry Rhubarb, as fantastic as it is, still doesn't measure up to New Glarus' other award-winning fruit beers. I'll still opt for a Serendipity!

750ml
A) Pours with a finger thick head that settles to a sticky lacing at the edge of the glass. Clear, amber to ruby colored body.
S) Bold aromatics - strawberry, rhubarb.
T) Tart strawberry and rhubarb. Subtle sweetness from the malts. Finishes with a pleasant strawberry and rhubarb aftertaste.
M) Medium body. Some mouth puckering.
O) A delicious concoction. Well balanced flavor profile. I'd definitely drink another.

Served in a tulip glass

L - It is murky and tea colored with rose highlights. It is topped with several inches of tan head.

S - I get the strawberry smell immediately. Then I can pick up the tartness of the rhubarb.

T - Again the strawberry is the first thing that I notice. It has a nice tart finish from the rhubarb. It is very good.

F - Medium and sticky

O - This is a very tasty brew and very enjoyable. I paired it with my mom's homemade strawberry and rhubarb pie. Awesome pairing!
