Glad to finally try this.

Appearance: Pours a murky red/brown color. Looks really muddy.

Smell: Smells amazing. Fresh strawberries, tart jam, sweetness, very malty, no bitterness.

Taste - Taste mirrors the nose - tart upfront then very sweet strawberries. Absolutely delicious.

Mouthfeel: Medium mouthfeel and a lot of carbonation. No alcohol. Super drinkable. I was drinking this so fast.

Overall: One of the best beers I've ever had. New Glarus fruit beers are perfect.

Pours a hazy grapefruit color with minimal head. Leaves a nice ring around the glass.

On the nose is huge fresh strawberries. Strawberry jam. Unreal how fresh it smells. Sour rhubarb. Like a big heaping scoop of strawberry cobbler.

Tastes like a slice of pie. Unreally fresh strawberries. Tart rhubarb. A little bit of bready notes on the finish. Big huge juicy strawberry flavor all the way throughout the beer. Wow. Amazingly fruity and fresh. So good.

Perfect mouthfeel. Light to medium bodied. Not watery at all. Perfectly carbonated. Just enough to keep the flavor alive and prick the tongue.

This beer is perfect for me. Would absolutely drink again and well worth what I traded to get it. Makes me want to make a trip to Wisconsin.

A: A strange dark gold. Not at all red, at least in my pour. Decent head and fantastic dark gold color there too.

S: Amazing. Phenomenal smell of fresh strawberry jam or strawberry gelatin pie.

T: Not much bitterness/tartness, which is what I dislike about fruit beers. Its a nice straight strawberry forward taste with a rhubarb finish. Not much more, not much less, just wonderfully simple. Lingering sourness in the mouth.

M: Pretty straight mouthfeel, not too much carbonation.

O: An amazing fruit beer, surprising me as someone who isn't normally a fan.

NG does it again with a fruit beer. In the NG tradition, this beer wallops you with fruity sweetness draped across a sour brown ale background. For me, this is the ideal way to mix fruit and beer. I'll ding the beer a little bit for a cloudy appearance, but in all likelihood, this my fault for the way the beer was stored (I had to thaw it to serve it...).

The beer is brown and translucent, with a whitish red had that persists for several minutes and laces the glass. The aroma delivers on strawberry like there's no tomorrow. Or at least, like there won't be any stawberries tomorrow because they are all in the beer. Needless to say, the flavor is strawberry. It is like a cooked strawberry sauce made from fresh fresh strawberries, maybe like a strawberry jam. There is tartness, to be sure, but it is supported by sweetness You could easily serve dessert with this beer, but it also works on its own.

The rhubarb comes into play in at least one way, and possibly two ways. Rhubarb is tart, so it is probably contributing to the beer's sour profile, but it is a sour ale, so it is hard to tease out the rhubarb's contribution. However, it lends a tannic finish to the beer that causes the insides of my cheeks and tongue to pucker a bit, which makes me want to have another sip. For me, this means that mouthfeel is integrated into the beers profile in a positive way. If you don't mind sweet with your sour (and I don'!), you'll find this beer delicious and quite drinkable.

a very murky opaque copper/brown/orange in color. 2 fingers of head with excellent retention - especially for this style! lots of lacing as well (which is also unusual for the fruit beer style). the aroma of this beer is just heavenly - strawberry jam, a slight tartness, bread crust, strawberries strawberries strawberries. my goodness the balance on this is phenomenal.. you'd think it would be all sweet and tart, but holy crap it's all full on strawberry rhubarb pie.. the subtle tartness of fruity strawberries and a bready pie crust like dryness to follow.. my goodness, am i liking this more than belgian red????
light in body, sweetly refreshing.. tart and fruity.. high carbonation

my goodness, it doesn't get any better than this. i would have loved a pink looking beer, but seriously, when a beer tastes this damn good - who gives a flying fuck?

@ Mikey's Top Shelf Pub, Pleasant Prairie WI

Ugly muddy pond water brown color beer. Sticky lace drapes itself all down my glass. Not a sexy looking brew.

Assertive sweet strawberry and rhubarb aroma and flavor, New Glarus nailed it. And strawberry is a tough fruit to carryover into brewing. At least there are a lot of bad strawberry beers.

I know a 5'er when I smell/taste one. Honestly I can't think of how this beer could be much better. I'd like to see it funked up a little but I suppose that would be a different beer entirely. Phenomenal ugly beer.

Appearance - An odd dank looking light brown. Quite hazy. Medium tall, white head with good retention.

Smell - Sweet strawberry is most prominent - almost a strawberry jam scent. A little sweet something else - I guess it must be rhubarb. The aroma could pass for a quality baked good.

Taste - Much less sweet than implied by the aroma. Rich natural strawberry flavor with a perfect amount of tartness.

Mouthfeel - Medium to full.

Overall - I'm not sure that, if I didn't know, I'd immediately peg this as beer. It is quite good though and unique among beers I've tried.

Pours a nice light red strawberry red. The nose on this beer is amazing! Like fresh pressed strawbeery jam, sweet and sugary. This one starts of with a nice quick tart punch from the rhubarb, fallowed by the sweet juicy strawberries. The flavors compliment eachother amazingly. Almost like drinking a strawberry fruit roll up! Has a slighly filling mouth feel, def one to share with your lady friend! Overall another fruit beer homerun from New Glarus!

750ml poured into a tulip glass

A: Hazy brownish golden... 2 finger head. Great lacing and above average head retention.

S: Unicorns, no wait... Narwhals. Either way I could take whiffs of this beverage all day long. Rich, sweet strawberry. Not subtle at all.

T: One of the few beers I have imbibed that the taste matched the smell spot on. Cream and strawberry. Rhubarb adds some very subtle tartness. Savory for days. Jam.

M: Perfect body in that it has plenty of substance w/ out being overwhelming.

O: Flat out a glorious beverage regardless of alcohol. Was a treat to try. Will clear the shelf if I ever see it anywhere in the future.

Pours a reddish-brown color that's cloudy with a reddish-tan frothy head.

Intensely incredible aroma of ripe, fresh strawberries and sweet malt.

The taste begins with a strawberry sweetness that subsides a bit then the tartness appears with a sour finish. Strawberry, green apple, rhubarb, all blend together into a heavenly combination.

the mouthfeel is creamy with initial tingling on the tongue. Light to medium body.

This is another soon-to-be legendary fruit creation from the masters of the style! Way to go New Glarus!

Poured from a bottle into a New Glarus champagne flute.

A - A murky orange color. Wasn't really expecting it, but it looks okay... Carbonation is very apparent. Nice lacing and about 1 finger worth of bright white head.

S - Oh my goodness. Ripe strawberries with rhubarb coming in at the end of the smell. Right when I popped the bottles I could smell it!

T - Amazing notes of strawberry. Green apples and other light fruits are present as well. Rhubarb comes in at the end of the sip and makes for a very desirable beer.

M - Very carbonated, like the other New Glarus fruit beers I've had. Quite easy on the palate and very drinkable.

O - Another home-run by New Glarus! I don't think they can do anything wrong with fruit and this beer is up there with the best. Try this if you can!

If you like freshly made jelly/preserves, this is ur beer.
Got this in a trade & I was blown away by the aroma on this beer.
You can boil strawberries& rhubarb, let it cool by the window and the smell in ur kitchen will match the smell out if your goblet.
I love natural fruit, non-acidic styles and this takes the cake.

another winner from new glarus. if you are not a fruity beer person stay away from this beer but for everyone else this is wonderfull nice balance between the sweetness of strawberry and just the right amount of tartness from the rhubarb. I would buy this beer all the time if i could but unfourtently i live in north central minnesota which is about a two hour drive from where i can buy new glarus but if you are ever in wisconson defintly pick this one up.

poured 750ml bottle into wine chalice

A - Muddled dark red with flecks of orange. Fat 2 finger brilliant white head that fades into a bubbly ring around my glass. Generous amounts of splattered lacing.

S - Smells like I just got done at a “U-pick-em” strawberry patch and was rolling around in rhubarb. Very fresh strawberry fruit with bits of tart rhubarb.

T - Like grandma’s homemade Strawbarb pies. Damn this is good. It is sweet, but there is enough tart from the rhubarb to give you a decent pucker. Fresh strawberries are the stars of this beer and they make it known.

M - Light bodied with good amount of carbonation. Makes it fizzy, but rich and delicious. Slight tart lingers for a bit.

O - Another outstanding fruit beer creation by New Glarus and Dan Carey. Keep them coming!

Poured into snifter.
A: pours a milky brown, one finger off white foam head, some spotty lacing
S: simply awesome! Sweet Strawberry, peach, white grape, plum, slight tartness
M: light with some thin resin on tongue
T: tart strawberry, sweet peach, sour grape, rhubarb
O: absolute delight! May replace moon man as my favorite brew from NG. Wonderful brew and must have

750ml bottle, shared at a tasting and reviewed from notes.

A: Clear, deep purple-brown body under an inch of off-white head. Good retention, great lace. Lovely.

S: Rich, sweet strawberry and not much else. Incredibly authentic, fresh, and intense.

T: Sweet, candied strawberry up front, with some tart rhubarb adding further complexity and intensity toward the end. Amazing, and infinitely more delicious than any strawberry beer I've ever had - including the sublime Allagash Avance.

M: Lively, frothy medium body. A little sticky, but good.

O: All other strawberry beers I've had have failed utterly to convey the sweet, juicy delight of a fresh strawberry. Most have been dull messes, others have survived by making the strawberry an afterthought in an otherwise good beer (e.g. Avance, Oudbeitje). Leave it to New Glarus to make a fruit beer that perfectly captures the essence of the fruit in question.

Cheers!

Pours a cloudy applesauce color with off white head. Smells fantastic, like sweet fresh strawberries with slight hint of rhubarb. Tastes like eating strawberry rhubarb pie, finishing with a creamy vanilla ice cream flavor. Mouthfeel is smooth and carbonated with such a great sweetness. Surprisingly not tart or sour considering the rhubarb.

Overall excellent beer, one of the best I've ever had. Another excellent example of New Glarus fruit beers.

Bottle liberated from the brewery, & I just finished packing a few more into a box for an All-Pro trader. 750ML with the trademark thin cheese wax sealing the bottle, split with my wife.

My ten-year old daughter loves pouring beer, so she decants for us...she lets me know it smells good. The pour is like farmer's market apple cider, muddled brown with L'Oreal reddish highlights. Minimal carbonation. Smell is fantastic, perfectly ripe strawberries; I hope my patch, planeted this summer, smells so good next year! Rhubarb is faint & I would have missed it if not for the label. Wonderful.

Strawberry Rhubarb just proves once again: the master of Fruit Beers lives in New Glarus. Nobody is even close. The rhubarb that's skulking in the nose emerges in the taste, lending a sharp, tangy counterpoint to the light sweetness of the strawberries. I can almost taste the cream on top. Light & summery, I could sit out on the deck, look over the lake, listens to the loons, & drink this all night.

This phrase is usually a curse, but here I use it with admiration: perfectly balanced. I don't know how New Glarus makes these magical potions without veering into cloying or nauseating, but I hope they never stop. Excellent, & gets damn near to elite status.

750ml
A) Pours with a finger thick head that settles to a sticky lacing at the edge of the glass. Clear, amber to ruby colored body.
S) Bold aromatics - strawberry, rhubarb.
T) Tart strawberry and rhubarb. Subtle sweetness from the malts. Finishes with a pleasant strawberry and rhubarb aftertaste.
M) Medium body. Some mouth puckering.
O) A delicious concoction. Well balanced flavor profile. I'd definitely drink another.

A - Cloudy light brown with little head when poured aggressively.

S - Sweet strawberries and rhubarb dominate with citrus/sour notes in the background.

T - Nicely balanced tart. Fizzy citrus front, sour rhubarb middle, and sweet strawberry finish. Great aftertaste.

M - Fizzy and full.

O - Might be my favorite new Tart from New Glarus Brewing... Strawberries are almost always a gimmick or failure, but in this beer they actually work. Haven't had a bad fruit/tart beer from New Glarus yet. World class indeed.

750 ml bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. My fourth of the fruit beers from New Glarus Brewing Co. Expectations are excellent based on how amazing the others all were.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a pinkish coppery ruby colored body with a finger of frothy pinkish tan head. Some thin spotty lacing.

S - The smell is very juicy & fruity smelling. This thing literally smells like a fruit roll-up in beer form.

T - Taste follows the nose - deliciously authentic and fruity strawberries. I'm not entirely sure what rhubarb tastes like, but I'm more than confident I'm tasting it. Some light earthy / woodsy elements to the beer, but it is mainly fruit forward.

M - The feel is crisp, clean, fruity, and juicy. Perfectly tart. Smooth, creamy, and ridiculously easy drinking.

Overall, another wonderful and delicious fruit beer from New Glarus. I feel like this one is more on par with the New Glarus Serendipity, but I rated all four of the beers the same since they were all equally delicious and authentic tasting.

Man, can these guys do fruit beers. This is so good. Shared with a couple of buddies and it was unanimous.
Nice red color, but pale enough to look more like strawberry. Smallish head.
Great strawberry aroma. So on that it almost seemed not real, but consistent and always pleasing. Just a slight tartness, which is also how the rhubarb shows in the flavor. Never any excess and always enjoyable. Just enough sweetness in flavor to enjoy the strawberry. Prickly carbonation, which seems right for style and heavy enough body, but also light enough.
I was quite sad as I finished this glass as I wanted to keep enjoying both the aroma and flavors.
So good.
