a very murky opaque copper/brown/orange in color. 2 fingers of head with excellent retention - especially for this style! lots of lacing as well (which is also unusual for the fruit beer style). the aroma of this beer is just heavenly - strawberry jam, a slight tartness, bread crust, strawberries strawberries strawberries. my goodness the balance on this is phenomenal.. you'd think it would be all sweet and tart, but holy crap it's all full on strawberry rhubarb pie.. the subtle tartness of fruity strawberries and a bready pie crust like dryness to follow.. my goodness, am i liking this more than belgian red????
light in body, sweetly refreshing.. tart and fruity.. high carbonation

my goodness, it doesn't get any better than this. i would have loved a pink looking beer, but seriously, when a beer tastes this damn good - who gives a flying fuck?

Big thanks to Jeff for this one. My girlfriend's super excited! 750ml bottle into Tired Hands stemware. Shared with schen9303.

Pours a massive, frothy, 3 finger light cream colored head with moderate to low retention. Beer is a clear mahogany rust. Lacing is stringy and spotty with great stick. Great looking brew!

Nose is sweet and aromatic. Strawberry rhubarb pie. Juicy with a ton of fruit puree. Excellent.

Opens sweet strawberry puree and juice. More of the same in the middle with a slight cinnamon sweetness and that signature New Glarus yeast flavor. Ends sweet and syrupy. Aftertaste is more of the same. Simple but enjoyable.

Light bodied with ample carbonation. Prickly and carbonated in the mouth and goes down syrupy. Finishes quick and abrasive with a lingering, sticky aftertaste. Solid.

This is pretty in line with the rest of New Glarus' fruit offerings. Clean, simple and delicious. I'm glad to have gotten to try this and I hope they keep this in the regular lineup.

Not a fan of sweet beers or fruit unless they are done right, aaand New Glarus does it right yet again!
A: Clear pinkish reddish brown color with a thin white foamy head that quickly dissipates
S: smells like a tart strawberry rhubarb dessert, very fruity on the nose
T: here is where the weakness is, very rich, almost overly so mainly from the tartness which I love and am a fan of only because it reminds me of a nice Belgian sour flanders only lighter in body similar to a cider but with less carbonation, id say medium low, leaves kind of a sour dirty fruit taste in the mouth.
O.A. Perfect appertif beer. great in small quanties, share this with 2 or 3 other people!

A: Nor sure how to describe the color. Cloudy light brown? Pastel red-tinted tan? Opaque reddish-ocre? What ever color that is, it isn't pretty... Forms a moderate sized, bubbly pink head. Quickly reduces to a light surface coating. Very light lacing.

S: Aroma is tart berries and fruit. Fruity strawberries and raspberries. Vegetal rhubarb. A slight metallic ting.

T: Wow. The taste really shines. Definitely getting both strawberry and rhubarb. Moderate sweetness, but not overpowering. Not as sweet as NG's other fruit-tart beers, but certainly showing some sweetness. Jammy with a light tartness.

M: Medium bodied with lower carbonation gives this one a thin-syrup feel. Mild bitterness, but there is a slight drying astringency on the back end.

O: Yet another successful fruit beer from NG. Easy drinking, fun, and fresh. Not overly complex, but the beer manages to taste just like the name says without any artificial quality to it in the least.

Thanks to Atoneworks. Pours a murky brown with red highlights and a thick fluffy white head that fades quickly. OK lacing. Smells like a slice of warm Strawberry Rhubarb pie, it's safe to say that I've never smelled a beer like this! The taste is tart with lots of strawberries. It finishes with a sour aftertaste that lingers, very refreshing. I've never sampled a Flemish Red, but this is how I imagine it would taste. It's got a lot of flavor for such a light body. Crisp carbonation. Overall, an extremely well crafted fruit (if rhubarb is considered a fruit) beer that makes a perfect aperitif or accompaniment to a salad on a warm summer, or early fall, evening.
