I poured this 12 oz. bottle into a nonic pint glass. No best by date apparent.
A: clear medium brown color, pours a healthy 3-finger head that gradually falls into a thick cap with very good lacing. A sexy brown ale to be sure.
S: nuts, oak, toasty malt, a buttery diacetyl note, the woody hops are subdued.
T: the nutty, woody malt has a moderate sweetness that slowly opens up in the middle along with a buttery note, the finish has a light earthiness and a vanilla note.
M: medium-bodied, silky texture, moderate to plentiful carbonation with a lightly mineral finish.
O: this is one of the best brown ales I can remember tasting, which is all the more impressive as a year-round offering from New Glarus Brewing. I could get fat on these.
