A German style wheat ale, mit hefe (with yeast). This cloudy, classic is light in body yet big in flavor. Lots of clove & a bit of banana make a big aromatic presence.

On-tap 6/24/08 at the brewpub, served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a thin off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is loaded with wheat and bananas with some spice and a touch of hops.
T: The taste likewise has a lot of wheat and banana flavors that dominate. There's a little spice to it and a decent hops presence to provide some balance. The malt character is quite hearty. The after-taste is bready and slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is very clean.
D: Very tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style even though it's a little on the darker side, this is a very good beer to drink for a whole evening.

Bottle brought home and poured into a weizen glass. The appearance was a soft semi-cloudy pale yellow/orange color with a two finger white foamy head. Stringy sliding lace. The aroma bled of sweet wheat malt, nice balance of clove, light bubblegum and normal amount of banana esters. The flavor blended the sweet to the spice exactly the way I wanted and expected it to be with a shining example of the expected sweet wheaty bite just nipping the tail of the aftertaste and giving off that quick wheaty sweet to spicy clove of a finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a great sessionability about it. Fairly low yet acceptable carbonation. ABV felt great as projected by the brewer. Overall, for the style and since this was consumed in a weizen glass, I say yes and a half to this. Probably one of the best brewed true to style hefeweizens by an American brewer.

Bottle from the brewery store.
Hazy light straw color with a frothy bubbly white head that persists forever. Light banana and clove with a bit of malty sweetness and hints of earthy spice and yeasty flavors. Lightly tart, not half bad.
