Enjoyed a couple of pints of this with "Bro" Artied2 yesterday at the Brewpub.

It poured a dull, sort of flat, tawny brown color, and was quite cloudy throughout. The hue was somewhat between a typical Hefe and a Dunkelweizen. Head was thin and light tan, and did not last much at all, though lacing was quite attractive. It has an absolutely lovely aroma, with plenty of clove and banana. This brew was medium bodied, and rather smooth on the palate for a Hefe.

Flavor is also replete with banana and clove, with a sweetness similar to honey. All these flavors linger long and hard in the mouth. Add in a saison-like bit of spiciness, and you have a superb, Bavarian-influenced rendition of the style. Quite flavorful!

Prosit!!

Walked in a winter wonderland with this one on 12/28/2004. 16-oz. pint in a shaker glass at the source.

Fluff of half-inch head that stuck and laced straight down; very pleasing. Hazy, golden honey to an almost amber hue with little discernible action going on. Kind of a soapy fining note on nose with orange peel and maybe some annise; on the whole, a sedate bouquet that is difficult to pull out. Cloves, allspice, nutmeg, clover honey, husky wheat throatiness to taste that dissipates quickly. Quite busy at the start, it finishes quickly and leaves little residue.
