Graduation Tasting: Beer number 6. Big thanks to Ampzilla for hooking this trade up!
Poured into a long-stemmed tulip. Looks how an imperial stout should. Pitch black body with a relatively light creamy coffee brown head that leaves behind traces of stickiness. There are some brown edges around the top, and I typically like a darker brown head on an RIS.
The smell is pretty nice. Raspberries, roasted chocolate and caramel malts. There is a touch of soy. Other dark fruits come through lightly as well, more like plum and maybe some cherry. Buttery, and a little bit soapy.
The taste is even more complex that the smell preluded. Nice sweet chocolate, very creamy mouthfeel. Roasted caramel malts. The chocolate in this beer is really coming out well, and a really smooth cherry taste blends in really nicely. Some light toffee flavors are also present. I could have easily drank this whole bottle by myself, but what is the fun in that? A little bit of everything, not too much or too little of any of the present flavors.
