Drank multiple snifters at KTG day 2012.
Poured a very dark brown color with a lighter colored head. Head disappeared quite quickly.
Smelled of dark fruits and chocolate, and almost a bit of a red wine scent in there.
Taste is good. I would say this is a hybrid of a Barley wine and a Stout. Definitely can detect the port additions, as well as dark fruits, raisins, plums, prunes, with a tiny bit of chocolate. Some alcohol heat but not overwhelming. Very rich.
Mouthfeel - Good for style.
Overall a solid beer. I personally don't think it quite lives up to the hype, though with that being said I would definitely seek this out again. Being at the release was fun!
Serving type: on-tap
