Consumed December 10th, 2011. 2011 vintage. Many thanks to Vurt for sharing!
Beer is close to pitch black with little apparent carbonation.
Aromas of dark pitted fruit, molasses, chocolate.
Flavors are more subtle and plentiful than expected: tobacco, chocolate, coffee, prunes and an acidic edge that flirts with sourness but doesn't go there. Port wine and woody notes as well.
Mouthfeel is lighter than expected, contributing to enjoyability. Slightly dry, clean finish.
This is one of the greats and deserving of the hype. Would I drink it every day? No. But a few times a year would be nice.
Serving type: bottle
