Received this bottle in a recent trade with jammalamma, thanks Ben! Split into two snifters:

A - Pours a somewhat fizzy head, which is pretty much not there. What head is there is a creamy mocha/egg shell white. Almost pitch black in color. Little bit of splotchy lacing.

S - Creamy milk chocolate and pretty big on the sweet lactose. Small amounts of roasted malts and coffee like aroma.

T - Chocolate, roast and lactose. The coffee is really light and almost not there. A tad bit watery but its still pretty good.

M - A bit thin. The roast leaves a bit of a dry feeling. Carbonation is really light and not that carbonated...but the milk chocolatiness is really smooth and creamy.

O - Not too bad. Its tasted great and smelled good, I just wish it had a bit more body and thickness. Pretty good though. Thanks again Ben.

On tap at the source
Pours a solid dark brown that borders on black with a huge creamy tan head that sticks around forever and leaves plenty of lace on the way down. Smell is sweet and roasty with just a hint of coffee. Smells a little like a mix between chocolate and coffee milk. Taste is sweet an a bit sugary with lots of roast, chocolate, coffee and a hint of lactic bite that I always seem to get from beer sweetened with lactose. Smooth silky creamy mouthfeel, medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation. Very nice stout. I wish I could have tasted the milk stout and this one side by side.

Bottle shared by Stawn, thanks! Snifter.

A: Black with a small bubbly beige head.

S: Black coffee with roasted malt and dark chocolate. I get a little dark fruit that reminds me of plum. A bit muted.

T: Light coffee with chocolate and a little earth. I get a faint lactic note. Not much going on.

M: Full body with moderate carbonation.

Overall: Not bad, just insipid.

Thanks to dpuia for sharing a bomber on 10/2/11.

A - Emerged from the bottle as a chocolate brown liquid with burgundy highlights around the bottom and virtually no head save for a patchy veil, yet it produced quite a bit of spotty lace around the glass.

S - Iced coffee and chocolate with a dominant roasted malt character. Simple but effective.

T - Opens with a blend of semi-sweet and milk chocolate paired with roasted coffee beans. While there isn't much bitterness, there is a hint of earthiness present, as well as mild astringency. Finishes with a deep roasted coffee malt character and some nuttiness that really ties everything together.

M - Medium bodied with a silky yet somewhat thin texture, yet it still maintains a creaminess that is pleasant. Carbonation is modest. Finishes with mild nutty astringency and very little bitterness on the palate.

D - I liked this more and more with each passing sip. The dominant coffee character works really well with the milk chocolate smoothness, and neither is too heavy-handed. Delicious!

Pours a light fizzy 1/2 finger head that fades at a medium pace, over almost black super dark brown colored beer.

Nose brings a lot of coffee, some roast, fresh roasted coffee beans, the good kind, some light milk chocolate, bit of an earthy dark malt, light vanilla.

Taste starts with creamy malts, a bit of milk chocolate, milky and creamy, then comes the coffee, lots of fresh roasted coffee beans, some darker malts with a bit of roast, a bit of vanilla, smooth. It finishes a slight bit drier with more bitterness, bringing a bit of hops and some roasted malt bitterness, more creamy milk chocolate and coffee, a long lingering fresh coffee roast.

Mouth is medium to slightly heavier bodied, creamy, with decent carbonation.

Drink is good, creamy and smooth, a bit bold with coffee, semi sweet to start but dries on the finish, mostly sessionable.

Poured from a bomber into a dogfish head shaped pint. The beer pours almost-black with a mahogany center when held up to the light. There's an off-white head that quickly fades to a tight ring around the top of the beer, leaving some light, spotty, oily lacing behind.

The smell is deep, dark, earthy coffee, but not overly roasted coffee. The sweet milk notes balance out the coffee and give this a nice well-balanced aroma. This beer smells more like a cup of iced coffee than any other beer I've had.

The taste follows the smell pretty closely. The coffee comes through a little stronger in the flavor than in the nose, and there's a more roasted note. The milk sweetness balances the beer out perfectly before the coffee comes back and gives this one a nice dry finish.

The beer is nice and light bodied, which is nice for such a full flavored stout. The beer is well carbonated and has a nice dry finish. This one gets high marks for drinkability for sure.

I have been trying to get these guys to brew a coffee stout for a while. So imagine my surprise to try this one today.
Nitro tap pour into my Imperial Pint glass the thing looked gorgeous. I love nitro pours, big off white creamy looking head that went to a nice lace. The body of the brew was a typical stout black color.

Great coffee aroma came up from my glass although this is my first coffee flavored stout from the tap I was very impressed. There was also a nice sweetness from the lactose that made it way thru as well.

The flavor was extremely balanced I think sometimes the milk stouts can be too sweet for me. With the coffee flavors to add to the bitter made this much more drinkable in my book. Like I said I love a nitro pour it really make the mouthfeel stand out thick and creamy are two words I would use to describe it.

Yes this is drinkable I had two glasses back to back. I ended up with the jitters but it was worth it. I'll have another tomorrow
